I was banded on Sept 4th

I was banded on Sept 4th. My goal weight loss is 50 lbs. I have lost 13 lbs already. I have not had a fill yet. I live in Yelm Washington and am 43 y/o. I was involved in a car accident that resulted in 3 vertebra being fused in my neck and unable to physically work out. The accident was Nov. 2005 since that time I just kept gaining weight. I had to do something before my weight caused more irreversible damage to my body. I have a heart condition that was getting worse with the more weight I gained. I have a three y/o that I need to be health for and live a long active life. This was my answer to my problem even though most of my family and friends did not think I should go through with the surgery. :)

It is helpful to have the support of your family. Have they attended a seminar to see what it is all about? Perhaps that would help them understand why it is so important to you. Sometimes we just have to do what we know is best for ourselves in spite of our family. This board will be a great source of strength and support. Most doctors have a support group for their patients. I would strongly suggest finding one in your area. It means alot to have face to face contact with other patients who really understand what we are going through in this process. I wish you well my friend!

Thank you for the advice. My family is beginning to come around now that they see how much weight I have already lost.
