When can you eat lettuce or a salad?

Recommended Posts

I was told to stay away from Iceberg Lettuce. The others are ok in moderation. Just be prepared that some of your past foods might not agree with you anymore. For me it's Pasta & Rice. I'm a year and a half out. But I don't regret anything & had the most wonderful Dr!

In this stage my NUT warned me to not eat iceberg lettuce. I was however able to do another lettuce for wraps. Think it was baby lettuce, but could check the name in my booklet later if you like.

Lettuce is pretty worthless actually. Many nutritionist say to ignore it and just get the good stuff (the salad toppings) or more robust greens like kale, cabbage, and spinach.

The downside to these tougher greens is that they are not as flavor neutral as lettuce. They are an acquired taste. Though once you acquire it, going back to any lettuce is bland.

I had romaine lettuce wrap at 8 weeks. My nutritionist was fine with it. She said if you can tolerate it. I was only able to eat two leaves at best with pepper jack cheese and small chicken stripes and mayo with olive oil. I don't eat salads and I am not almost 3 months. Once I eat my Protein I am usually full l.

Spinich and watercress is better than lettuce. Nutrition should come before fancing a salad in my humble opinion.

At 18 months I am having salads, however after getting my Protein in, I can only manage a few mouthfulls. Maybe the day will come when I can have just a mini salad as a snack, with some nuts. :)

I'm 7 weeks post op and I can't do lettuce at all. Doctor approved it, but my tummy does not like it at all. It rumbles and makes noise every time. I can do baby spinach finely chopped, but only a few leaves. I have low Iron so I've been eating spinach and recently started juicing my kale because I can't quite get it down uncooked. I miss salads and hopefully soon will be able to eat them again.

The very couple times I've craved the salads I've gotten I can do 3 bites max. Today's salad is in the fridge. I won't crave it again for weeks. It doesn't feel great in my stomach either

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
