I was quite surprised yesterday as I went for my 4th fill and not too happy about weight loss. However I lost another 4lbs this month and Wendy has told me that I have now lost 56 percent of the weight I need to lose,. So Im over the half way mark at 4 and a half months from being banded. Put that way really cheered me up.

Your doing great Bobo.

Flirty youve done brilliantly without restriction but you should have got what you paid for so defo be firm with CDB.

Gary I hope everythings going well for you.

TIN where are you, how you doing, did you go for a fill yesterday? Im going back in Dec at 1.30 would love to catch up. Jx[/QUOT

Hi all, i have been reading your advice to each other and it is brilliantthat you are all so supportive of each other how cool is that.

I am a newbie i was banded on 6th october2009, and i am due for my first fill on 19th november, i have lost around a stone and 1 lb since being banded, which doesnt seem that much  to be honest i am struggling to stick to healthy options and low fat food grrrrrr i am pretty hungry is this normal.

maybe you guys could help me out by pointing me in the right direction lol

I have also noticed that some people have had quite a few fills, how many do you get and when, who decides how much fill you get, also how long does this fill carry on go on for God i sound so needy haha i just need to know what to look out for.

Please tell me it isnt painfull getting the first fill done.

thanks so much for letting me vent my fears, yor a brilliant bunch and congratulations on all the weight loss you have all done so well i feel a failure already hahaha.

look forward to hearing from you all and having your support

Hi Moonbeam and Susybaby, Yes we were all at the stage of wanting our first fill to start the journey. I personally booked a package with WLS for six months. Its usually £350 pounds for this but I know they are having a special offer in December and January and are charging £275. I cant recommend them enough, Wendy the fill nurse is FAB.

It isnt painful at all and I look forward to going to see the weight loss and fat mass I may have lost.

You are doing great with your weight loss and have lost this weight with willpower just think what a little help with restriction will give you. Please remember your first fill usually doesnt give any restriction. I was lucky enough to start feeling restriction after 3 fills but I still need it tweeked i.e a little put in probably 0.5mls which isnt much but when your near your sweet spot it makes one hell of a difference. If you need any info pm me and I will be happy to help. Jx

aw thats a shame, the gym will make a huge difference but please please please give it time, i say to folk that it will take at least a month of going min of 3 times a week before even mentally you feel the benefit and then you will get obsessed, just trust me. Some days you will drive into car park and want to drive right back out but it does change.

Hi the reckiroom its perfectly normal to be starving at this stage and getting hungry after all u have nothing in the band and all of us had the same experience mad to get a fill the fill its self is nothing i describe it as the same as the wee injections u had to do for 5days after the op im terrified of needles but seriously its nothing or id be first to say fred just feels for the port and in he goes nothing to it takes less than a min... No xray or anything is involved usually ur first fill will be 3mls as for restriction i aint best to answer but some people need very few fills others like me need alot more iv had 10or11 now but there aint too many like me thank god lol u decide when u need a fill you'l know by how much u can eat and how ur loss is going fred or whoever will decide on how much fill u will receive but seriously ur weight loss so far is fab can u imagine losing that 15lbs so quick before this but just remember the weight loss can come to a halt every now and agin but give it time and it will soon start again just try mixing up ur calorie intake on different days etc the more weight u lose the more fill u need as the fat around the belly goes the band lossens a bit hope all that has made sense

Susybaby hope the above also answers ur question

Hi honey i hope your well, are you sitting down for this, at your current weight based upon your normal daily activity ie wlking talking sleeping eating your body needs 1430 cals per day to keep your weight steady. THe rough rule is that to loose 1 pound of body fat per week you need to be minus 3500 calories per week which equtes to you eating 930 which is not a lot, thats why the importance of excercise is crucial to you looosing as you can still loose that pound per week by still eating 1400 cals as long as your burning 3500 per week in excercise which at your low weight is quite a bit of training to give you and idea at your weight an hour of jogging will burn you 600 cals so you would need to add 5 runs per week phewwwwww, i cant emphasise enough about doing weights as well,(it wont get you bigger) this is even more effective in loosing fat than cardio training ask any fitness instructor therefroe if you do a combo of both you will loose that extra bit but more importantly you will be toned.

http://www.prohealth.com/weightloss/tools/exercise/calculator1_2.cfm this is a handy wee site for calculating calories through excercise. Also look up in your area "Bikhram hot yoga" s since i have added this to my training i have toned up a lot and lost weight .I hope this makes sense if not PM me your number and i will call you as its easier to talk through (good try at getting your number eh just a pitty your so far way hahahaha).

Hi all

I registered in Feb 09 but forgot I had!! I've been reading and reading this thread for months but not logged in or posted.

Anyway, I have a conumdrum. My boyfriend has offered to pay for the 4000 euro package for me, as long as it hasnt got to be paid in one lump.

I have emailed frederik today to ask if I can pay in 2x 2000e lumps. Do you think this will be allowed?

It's that or nothing for me

ps I love reading your threads, there's some wonderful words here :tt2:

Hi Flirty,

Thanks for your reply.

It's not that we don't have the money, because we do but my partner doesn't want to let his base account drop below a certain amount. It's his 'just in case I get made redundant I can still pay the mortgage' account lol

I did offer to Fred to still pay it in advance so he would still get the money from us, just not in one go.

We did a similar thing last year when he paid for my MSc, instead of paying it in one go we made 2 credit card payments a week apart, that way it showed up over 2 months of statements (he pays it off in full every month ya see).

Oh bugger  My hopes may be dashed before they've even begun.

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
