Hi ladies! I was sleeved on 12/22/16 and my main reason was due to fertility issues. My husband and I had been trying to have a baby for a year and a half with no luck. I saw a fertility specialist and was tested for PCOS among other things and all came out normal but they did say it was my weight causing problems. I was on BC for 10 years (the pill where you only had a period once every 3 months), and when I came off it I went 5 months without a period. My cycles were all out of whack for a long time but the last few months prior to surgery I would have a period once every 6 weeks or so. I know that we are to wait at least a year before getting pregnant, but I'm just curious if anyone else has had a similar experience to mine? I'm hoping that my cycles will go back to normal and I'll be able to conceive without issues when it's time. Please let me know if you can relate and if your cycles regulated and if you got pregnant after the sleeve - how long after and how long did you try? Thanks in advance!

I have had two friends who were infertile with no real reason. One was tiny. After she gained 20 lbs, she conceived.

Another, was a friend who did medifast with me. She was infertile for so long, they adopted two babies. Seven years later (her kids now 7 and 4), she did medifast. Three months in, she finds out she is pregnant. Turns out, if you lose weight quickly, it messes with your hormones.

So, the lesson is to now use bc until the year Mark. And good luck!!!

I can TOTALLY relate! Our story to a T only we had TTC for 5 years and I wasn't about to get back on bc after surgery since it had taken so long to balance out. Needless to say, I got pregnant 5 months after surgery however, nothing could have gone better. I did learn that OBs and midwives know nothing of bariatrics when they tried to tell me I could not have a natural birth because I was "high risk"
I did my homework and went prepared with a plan and suggested they seek advice from the bariatrics dept. I upped my caloric intake by grazing through the day on additional healthy Snacks and I'm convinced had a healthier pregnancy than I would have had I NOT had surgery. Everything went swimmingly and we had an unmediated birth just two days before my due date and I walked out of that hospital 4 hours with my baby girl she's 10 months now. I gained 17lbs during my pregnancy and it was all gone 2 days after. I went right back to losing with breastfeeding after labor. I realize my situation wasn't the ideal timing but it worked perfectly for us. I pray you have no issues getting pregnant when it's right for you! Best of luck!!!!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
