Did you ever...? (a bit gross)

Recommended Posts

You fed your chewed food to the dog?!?

I've done it. I'm 13 days out of surgery and back to making food for my family. Sadly, food I cannot eat... (My husband cannot cook and they both have been suffering from eating easy to make meals for a few weeks now.).

So I made them some steak the other day and while I have been able to stay away from everything else the smell of that steak was killing me. So I did what I thought would help me. I chewed upon the steak and spit it out and fed it to my dog.

The psychologist once said if it is bothering you to the point you are obsessing over it. You can set idealistic goals for yourself on how to address your cravings. Now I'm sure they didn't mean 13 days post-OP but, it worked and after 4 bites and spitting it out I was satisfied.

Yeah, why not? She liked it.

My dog likes to drink out of the toilet and roll in dead stuff, but that doesn't make it a good healthy option for her.

Urp. The thought of chewing something and feeding it to another living being just makes me a little ... ew.

:D

@@LipstickLady Premastication is a practice that has been around, probably since women have been having babies. As for giving it to the dog, my dog eagerly accepts the gristle from beef Jerky that I've chewed but won't swallow.

Of course, he has been known to bury animals to tenderize them before digging them up again and eating them later on. Now that is something to get your stomach upset, and it does every time for him. But it doesn't stop him from doing it.

I was a science teacher in a past life. I'm aware. ;)

Doesn't make it less gross to me. :D

@@White Sale Oh yeah, did you watch that Arlo Guthrie video? It is old, but it is centered on pickles. The ending of the song is something you might find amusing, considering your OP.

Yeah, it's a bit on the gross side but I don't think 4 bites will necessarily kill her or anything. She is still breathing and acting like normal since you seem so concerned. ????. She also got part of the fat trim that I won't chew on... because I personally find it gross. To each their own.

No offense or judgement intended at all!! I was just making an observation. I definitely didn't mean to imply you would harm your pup.

I did this twice after my surgery. But, I heard this is dangerous because it can lead to bulimia. Try to avoid this.

The frozen Pickle Juice sounds like a good idea.

"...I don't wanna die,

just wanna weigh less than my motorcy-cle..."

Hiraeth - The frozen pickle juice wasn't *quite* as good as the real deal, but definitely a safer & healthier alternative.

By spitting the food out, you may not be feeding yourself but you are feeding your addiction. It is a very slippery slope. I've done it as well. I had to reign myself back in.

I may have licked a dorito or 2 when I was on all liquids for the first 2 weeks and I couldn't handle it anymore!! I'm doing just fine, and it got me over the slope! Now that I'm on mushy and soft foods, I don't have the feeling that I 'need' to do that! I think when I originally got my lapband 10 years ago I crunched up a wheat thin and spit it out. Sometimes you just gotta do whatcha gotta do... just make it an exception, not the rule! [emoji1]

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
