Anyone use Dr. Fitzer at Virginia Bariatric?

Recommended Posts

I had the procedure done at Reston Hospital Center. It was fantastic. Everyone was great. Very different from a lot of other my other experiences in hospitals I’ve had to deal with when taking care of my father and all his ailments.

I’m feeling good. I’m still sore all at my incision sites and want to take care of them the best I can. I have this random cough that puts pressure on them that driving me crazy at the moment. And I’m still trying to get all the fluids in. Yesterday I was trying to get Protein into a water bottle and took a big swig of Water to make room of the protein completely not thinking... yeah.... that didn’t go so well. Lol. But other than that trying to stay focused on these Clear Liquids.

I haven’t been to any support groups. I didn’t know about them, but I’m down to check them out. Does anyone have any information on any that are coming up?

I’ll look for that Facebook group!! Do I have to be invited?

Just a quick question....my insurance states I can not gain during this whole process. I met my goal weight for surgery at my last apt with Suzanne. Over the past week, I’m not sure if it’s the drastic change in my diet to lose the weight or what...but I haven’t gone to the bathroom...been taking different meds to help...but my weight is up some. I go to my apt Thursday with my primary dr to get surgery clearance...during this past year, I have opted out of getting weighed at my drs office...just because I weighed in on the scale at Fitzers office and didn’t want the stress...I wonder if I can still opt out of that on Thursday? I don’t have my pre op at Fitzers office until the 26th. Just wanted your guys advice...I like only getting on one scale...lol

Opt out if you're worried about it, and then do what you can to make sure you're down a bit at the time of your pre-op w/Fitzer. I think you'll be fine either way, though. I also have a requirement to "not gain weight during the supervised diet period," but I was up a couple of pounds at my last appointment with Suzanne, and she said I'll be ok as long as I'm at Fitzer's goal weight for me by the time of my pre-op appointment 2 weeks before my surgery date.

Yea, I was looking it up, and we have that right to choose not to be weighed. The only weight I care about is the one at Dr Fitzers office. I only had to lose 10 pounds for Dr Fitzer but my insurance required 10%...so I lost 41 pounds. 17 of that was in the last month. I think I just messed my self up...I normally have no issue at all in the bathroom area. Good news is, the milk of magnesia is working...still very bloated...but hoping the Water I’m pushing today will alleviate that by tomorrow. It was just hard looking at the scale and seeing 6 extra pounds :( I’ve been upset all day.

41 pounds?! That's fantastic! You've got this.

I struggled with that 41 pounds lol...but I knew I had to do it. I was still up on my weight this morning, but my ring was loose and I felt better...so hopefully by Thursday I will have lost this water...20 days till surgery!

Yeah Buddy!!! It's about that time to get ready for a life changer!!!! Trust me, you are in good hands. Fitz will take care of you. It's actually not too bad of a recovery. The hardest part is the mental aspect of it. Your mind contantly runs trying to figure out how to process what's happening. You're all good. The physical part will take care of itself. The mental is the most exhausting. You got this. I just seen Suzanne last week. She rocks. I'm here if you need anything.

Hey... I plan on coming out for my first one... that is unless I end up having to work late (which is a real possibility for me any day). Keeping my fingers crossed!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
