  • My heart goes out to you!! My husband has had major problems with fissures and hemmies also. He has had them removed at Dr.'s office. The stuff they removed stunk like something was dead!! His one time was the size of a softball!! Lo and behold the same thing happened to my daughter. Now I'm not sure if these tend to run in the family but it is one of the worst things to have. Now, before my RNY, I had the back door trots everyday and went poo after every meal and then in between too. Now I have Constipation, and have to use Miralax, I used it once and awhile but sometimes it takes me 4 doses to get to go. It is really miserable for sure. For myself I would much prefer the Constipation. But...that is just me. I guess others would rather go the other way. You might try MIRALAX because it isn't a laxative at all. Just uses the fluids from your body. Again, I know how bad it can get and I hope all goes well for you.

What procedure did you have?

So you just had surgery so any bm is a good thing, most don’t have one until they start eating again. Blood in your stool is definitely not normal so call your surgeon and just ask what that could mean.

The reason why i asked what procedure is because usually you hear about the runs with bypass and ds patients, not so much the sleeve. Sleevers tend to either be normal or constipated.

I will say with most people it almost always goes away with time, so good luck.

I don't understand how one could have firm BMs consuming only liquids...

I am on my pre-op which is primarily liquid and one small meal and I am extremely constipated. Worse than I've been in a very long time.

Well I am atypical RNY, I have never yet had diarrhea and I am over 7 weeks out. My stool💩loves me so much it hangs around until an enema or MoM, oh it is still soft because of the Miralax, but IT DOES HATE LEAVING!

I know I don't get to choose what happens, but if I had to choose between the two, I would most definitely prefer being constipated! lol! I don't want to risk any accidents at work or in public. Diarrhea is the worst! I would rather vomit every day of my life than deal with that.

I was atypical as well until yesterday. 2.5 months post op and sudden runs. Yesterday was after eating a salad. No dressing no fats. Last night had 2 eggs n piece of toast. This morning couldn't stay off the toilet!!☹️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
