Hi folks! Be gentle I'm a newbie!

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone! Just found this app and it's brilliant! I'm 7 days post surgery after a gastric sleeve. I think I'm doing pretty well so far I'm only really struggling to take in enough Water etc. I find drinking slowly and sipping often is the best for me. I'm looking forward to giving and getting support on here.

Drinking is definitely tough at first. I'm 12 weeks out and I can always get my 64 oz but sometimes I just have to hold my cup to remember to drink. Lately I've been doing 90 oz. You'll get there!

@@startinganewme - Enjoy the ride. Terms to know:

NSV - non-scale victory

Stall - the inevitable point where you body catches up on fat loss and readjust your metabolism and causes you angst for a few weeks thinking you are doing something wrong. Stalls happen, don't sweat it.

Hormone Rush - Since hormone's are stored in fat, you might get some strange emotions or urges you have never felt before. It's normal, but it may explain why you want to have sex more often, in strange places, with strange people.

Panic Points

Not pooping for a week to 10 days post surgery. Ehm, it will all come out in the end. You will worry, but don't.

New attention from people, which may bum you out because you feel like the same person, but people are treating you differently. Eventually you will find your new normal and the feeling passes.

I'm sure others can add to the list. Congrats.

I had my DS on the 15, so I'm kinda in the same boat as you! I have a timer go off every 15 minutes to remind me to take my fluids. Oh, and the poop thing is real. WWWIII happened in my bathroom this morning and now my rectum is traumatized! XD I don't care for taking the Protein shakes but at least my body is tolerating them. Right now, that's all that matters. Welcome to newbieville!

5 days out. Drinking is tough. I go from panic I took to big a swallow and have gas bubble to haven't taken a swallow in a while. Hoping when I get back to work my rhythm will come back too. Right now I miss laying comfortably in bed. Spent first 3 nights at home in a recliner which I never want to see again. Love these pages though. They make me feel normal. So thanks y'all!

I have my surgery on Dec. 5th. I am worried about getting in the Protein shakes. Right now I am on my liquid diet and cannot tolerate 5 Protein Shakes a day. I find the taste to be disgusting. I have only been able to drink 2-3 per day, but after surgery I am worried that they will make me nauseated.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
