Hi I had my sleeve done on the same day and I feel the same way! I refuse to look at the scale because I'm scared that I haven't lost anything. You aren't alone

I am just finishing week three but the first week and half after my surgery I felt super bloated and heavy. I did weigh and I was losing but I think it was still some gases and swollen from the surgery. One day I woke up and felt a bit slimmer.

Hope this helps.

I think the problem might be your expectations.

You had surgery 11 days ago. It's not liposuction, your body must actually metabolise body fats, and this takes time.

People lose weight at different rates and in different ways. We don't all have the same history with obesity.

You started at under 200lbs, so your losses will not look like someone who started at 300lbs or 400lbs. You are female, and depending on your menses, there will be a week each month where you retain Water, are bloated and your cortisol is soaring from the stress of menstruating.

Cortisol is a stress hormone. You will struggle to lose weight when your cortisol is high. Stressing over not having lost XX lbs after only 11 days will only make it harder to lose weight.

Its not like your going to have this surgery and be thin the next day. The first thing to watch for is about 5 days out from surgery, your going to have a nice, big bowel movement. Not being gross but it has to flow through for you to lose.

My suggestion is to throw away the scale. Be patient. Also, are you eating the same amount of food you were eating prior to your surgery? I think your answer to this is going to be no. So its just a matter of time. Your body has to burn off the fat which is used as fuel to give your energy and it has to discard the fat some how, so down the toilet it goes, sweat etc.

You will see major change in 3 months and within a year you will see even more. Remember you still have to do your part and the sleeve is only a tool.

I had my surgery on the 8th and I am the same. I have stopped looking at the scale because I know it's only a matter of time. I figure my body is adjusting right now. Just give it a little more time and I am sure your scale will start moving!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
