Post op liquid diet

Recommended Posts

The Protein shakes have never been my favorite thing, but in the early days and weeks post-op, they are an absolute necessity. Just think of them as medicine or body fuel that you just have to intake and not something that you have to like or enjoy.

Good luck!

Get unflavored and add it to other liquids. Try the clear Protein waters. I like the thinking of it as medicine idea. It is the best medicine for you right now. This too shall pass.

I was sleeved 11/8 and since I already had difficulties with sweets (they just never did taste all that spectacular), my surgeon and NUT recommended that I take my Protein by adding unflavored Protein to broth for my main meals then have a half portion of a sweet Protein shake if I thought I wanted a sweet thing at the end of the day.

I had ordered the GENEPRO unflavored protein and it's okay, but I think that I might have preferred the Beneprotein by Nestle that the hospital gave me post op.

I hated Isopure unflavored... but I buy g6 sport vanilla with 25 grama if Protein and it's great esp in non fat milk. I get it at GNC where if you become a member for free, you get quite a discount as it is one of the more expensive powders. It's sweetened with all natural non artificial stevia. I'm allergic to tge artificial sweeteners so this has been a life saver. They also have chocolate.

I never tried unflavored other other then the highly recommended Isopure and it was sooo gross but I have wolf taste buds!! LoimI'm not kidding either!

I still drink a Protein Drink even though I'm on purees now

My dietician recommended Cyborg Ultra Leaan Protein powder to add to Water to help with your Protein intake. It's an easier way to get it all in through the day. Just make sure you take a tablespoon of olive oil and one of lemon juice mixed together once a day to help your body process all of the protein. It can cause gallstones which hurt as much as labour pains but in the top of your belly. Hoping you find a happy medium chiquiroxy.

@@Butterflywarrior I HATED Isopure unflavored, it was disgusting. I use GENEPRO, but I'm going to keep the one you use in mind just in case GENEPRO becomes intolerable as well.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
