Is peanut butter a good source?

but how much fat? is it worth it?

Healthy fat is actually a good thing. Consuming healthy fat helps the fat-burning process when on a low carb diet. I lost almost 100 pounds during my six-month insurance-required pre-op diet that way, and I am following that diet post-op now as well.

Low carb and low fat at the same time is a tough row to hoe. (And in my case, it historically was far less effective.)

That is fantastic. Can u share a typical day post op? Still trying to get the hang of what to eat! I feel lost at times...well most of the times.

I buy organic Peanut Butter. Has more fat than the PB2, but my nutritionist hates PB2 because it is all chemical. I really don't have Peanut Butter very often anyway so it is a nice treat.

Yeah I started off with PB2 powered for the first 4 to 5 months, then I moved to sugar & preservative free natural Peanut Butter for a while just to maintain my blood sugar levels. Now I'm back to regular Peanut Butter, but I still use PB2 faithfully for smoothies.

I love the wild friends Protein plus Peanut Butter. So much I will never have it in my house ever again. It is totally delicious, but way too many calories and far too easy to over eat. I could seriously just sit and eat a jar in a day or 2.

It is like crack, just don't try it or start it. The chocolate Peanut is amazing. Stay away. Stay away.

I have Peanut Butter everyday but only 1 tablespoon right before bed. I think it keeps me from getting shaky in the am. My Nut has no problem with it.

Your nutritionist is wack - just wanted to mention *nods* at least as far as PB2 is... it has... roasted peanuts, sugar, and salt. There is NOTHING chemical in it, and its made by slow roasting the peanuts and pressing the oil out.

-----------------------------------------------------

that being said - I eat about a tsp or two of skippy natural peanut butter when I'm craving something. and I use the PB2 in my shakes - PB2 is not good for making ahead and storing for later though - I learned that the stinky way.

As for the PB2, it is actually decent. I do not use it too often but liked to mix it in with vanilla Protein Powder, when I was doing a lot of shakes. Gives the shake a good PB flavor.

I'm very selective on what I put into my body along with giving my family foods. I don't like Peanut Butter anymore but i give my daughter peanut without salt and the only ingredients in it is peanuts. I try to avoid processed foods. When I was out of surgery for a couple of week i started to use Peanut Butter in my Protein shakes to increase Protein. Also, look into almond butter. The products I buy are more expensive but you get what you pay for.

I love almond butter.

If you take plain oats(not quick) mix with some almond milk a teaspoon of almond butter and a few pieces of fruit , mix and leave in fridge overnight. Eat the next am. Excellent meal !!!! You can even make 3 days at a time.

I only use about 1/4cup or less of oats. They swell to a good size.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
