Is peanut butter a good source?

Recommended Posts

Definitely a good source, when you get bored of other things. However, only natural PB....all other PB has sugar or other sweeteners added.

I would use PB2 instead. 180 cals of PB2 is 20g Protein, rather than 12g.

I'm also a huge fan of PB2. I get it at GNC and I swear I could just eat it off a spoon. I also add it to my Protein shake. I probably get 10 extra grams of Protein a day most days from the PB2.< /p>

Heh, I got mine for fairly cheap, from biglots of all places. It was a great find, I just wish I would have bought more. They also make a chocolate Peanut Butter one too!

My doc hates Peanut Butter but he said he's ok with me eating it when I'm ready. Has anyone tried this butter? I've never seen it and would love to get because it is very high in Protein.

I don't know what your doc or NUT would say about this but I have a neat little "PBJ" fix that I just LOVE on occasion for a snack.

Use a small bowl or condiment cup,

Put a tablespoon of All Natural No Sugar Added Peanut Butter in the bowl.

Put a teaspoon of No Sugar preserves such as peach or Apricot (my fav). right next to the Peanut Butter.

Eat this snack little bites at a time getting both PB and Preserves together on the spoon.

Tastes just like a PBJ sandwich! :D

but how much fat? is it worth it?

Sent from my SM-S820L using the BariatricPal App

Healthy fat is actually a good thing. Consuming healthy fat helps the fat-burning process when on a low carb diet. I lost almost 100 pounds during my six-month insurance-required pre-op diet that way, and I am following that diet post-op now as well.

Low carb and low fat at the same time is a tough row to hoe. (And in my case, it historically was far less effective.)

That is fantastic. Can u share a typical day post op? Still trying to get the hang of what to eat! I feel lost at times...well most of the times.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
