How much protein do you get in a day?

Recommended Posts

I'm 2 1/2 months. Sleeved 8/22. I'm averaging around 90. 1 Protein shake (30 g) the rest is real food.

This question is more for people who are less than 4 months out, but all answers are welcome.... How much Protein are you able to get in, in a day????

I'm 4 days out and having trouble keeping it down. My plan was to have 2 premier Protein shakes a day, I can barely finish half on 1! I know that's not good but it's making feel like phlegmy and full really fast that I don't want anymore for the day. Any suggestions?

I get about 90 grams per day -- all food. Today is Day 37 post-op for me.

How do you get 90 grams...What's your secret..lol

I eat 8 times in a day, spaced about 90 minutes apart (except for after the first "meal" of the morning when I leave 2.5 hours after to front load about 64 oz of water). It takes me all day (12-14 hours) of eating, waiting, drinking, waiting, eating again, etc. to get it all in.

Dilute them 1/2 and 1/2 with milk to cut the thickness and sweetness. You need the fluids anyways and milk adds even more Protein. You may also try other brands that aren't so thick. Syntrax nectar makes many flavors you can mix with Water to get more of a koolaid consistency.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
