Someone recommended me a space heater but I'm scared of those too.

I'm freezing (and only 6 days post-op). I'm usually walking around the house in a tank top and underwear no matter what the weather is - and since getting home from the hospital - I'm all bundled up and still freezing. I'm getting ready to take a nap under a heavy comforter, a heating pad and with the space heater blowing on me. The space heater we have is very safe.

I've just started getting cold some of the time, and I'm thrilled about it. I've been the overheated, sweating fat lady for so long, it's a nice change to be able to wear a sweater. :)

The thing that has made me the happiest I sought out before the surgery because with the onset of my auto-immune arthritis, my feet are always just blocks of ice, and make it hard for me to sleep.

I found something like this at Bed Bath and Beyond, and it's my favorite thing EVER.

https://www.amazon.com/Serta-Triple-Electric-Heated-Warmer/dp/B00G1X4A06

Keeps my feet toasty while I sleep, and hubby even scoots over to share the warmth. :)

Throw blankets on the couch are awesome, and though I haven't turned it on yet this winter, my family bought me this:

Staying warm is easier for me than cooling off. :)

I have one at work. It doesn't really get hot enough to set anything ablaze. You can also get the ones that turn off and on on their own. I can't deal without my space heater.... the air blows right over my head at work!

I have been warned about this. :)

I am usually cold at work as it is I do not want to even think about what it will be like after surgery. On the other hand at home, my fiance always wants an electric blanket and I am usually hot when I sleep so he will love that, or maybe not if I steal all the covers. LOL

I have a theory on this and I could be way off base. My heart rate resting used to be 85-86 now it is 68-70. That is a difference of 18% less blood being moved throughout my body. My theory is that I'm cold due to less blood flow.

My partner and I have always kept the thermostat on a 67 or 68 tundra setting, but these days, I freeze to death. He's lost 85 pounds himself, but he hasn't had a big internal temperature change. I just sit under an extra blanket all the time. It will be interesting to see what winter is like. (But we rarely get below 40 degrees in the winter in New Orleans.)

I'm freezing all the time! My dual control mattress pad was my best investment ever! sleep is so important to me and there is nothing like climbing under a down comforter onto nice heated sheets ❤️. I use an electric throw while watching tv. And just bought new sweaters that I wear over camis. My hands are another issue, almost always like ice cubes, I find myself sitting on them at work. Doesn't make for easy accounting work . I'll have to look for gloves with the fingers cut out

OK. I'll check if this is the kind that turns off. That would make me feel better. I actually get a lot of anxiety about electronics being plugged in. I have a whole OCD routine involving my curling Iron when I use it.

I might just be too anxious to use it in my apartment. Or anything electric like the blankets or mattress pads.

I really do appreciate the suggestions from everyone though.

My office is weirdly balmy, if it was frigid I wouldn't think twice about the space heater because IDGAF if I accidentally burned it down. LOL. JK.

The dumbest part of this is I am so happy with my weight loss that everyday I want to show SKIN. Someone tell me how to look sexy in layers.......

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
