3 months post op and it's a frigid 40 degrees in NYC. I shivered audibly several times today. I've got to rethink my entire wardrobe if this keeps up- black tights all winter won't cut it.

I also need a new super heavy comforter and maybe a warm fuzzy robe? Does anyone have any recommendations for either of those? I need like a serious surviving winter in Scandinavia style comforter. So so cold.

I used to sleep naked with my windows cracked in the dead of winter. It's October and I'm in head to toe sweats wishing I had a balaclava to warm my face while I sleep.

I have sorel type hard toe boots for work. It has barely hit the 40's and those aren't cutting it. I even bought thermal socks!

Do you mind if I ask what kind of work you do? My husband said he would be interested in WLS but he worries about work. He is in industrial maintenance. He could take off the time for surgery, but he worries about going back to work. There is no such thing as light duty for his job.

Sorry for hijacking this thread, but when you mentioned boots, it made me think about this... carry on. Lol

I'm only one month out from surgery and I already notice a big difference in my cold tolerance! Pretty crazy.

LL Bean flannels are great, and I am now wearing socks to bed -- sometimes with a plush bathrobe over my PJs! We also have a wool LL Bean blanket over our coverlet. We had a freakish week of 80 degrees here in Massachusetts, but it's ending tomorrow, and I'll be stripping the coverlet off and putting on the big kahuna heavy comforter -- in addition to flannels, socks, and blanket. And I keep the heat at 70 all the time. Crazy!

I don't get too cold during the day -- I think the activity helps, but at night, fuggettaboutit. I'm frozen! I actually get a neck/back ache from clenching in fetal position trying to warm up in my sleep.

I work for a home oxygen and respiratory company. Normally I'm 33/34/33 field/office/warehouse but lately I'm 75 field due to being short handed.

I second the heated mattress pad...it's even better than an electric blanket. We have one for each of our beds but I can't find them since our move to this area. It's been getting into the 40s here and raining, I've been freezing all day and all night. I used to sleep in a tank and panties year round, now I'm in a thermal top, flannel bottoms and rag wool socks. Sexy, right? Oh, and the dog on my feet, too. And still cold.

If I don't find that heated pad in a week or so, I'm buying a new one. We only have radiator heat and the one in our bedroom is not cutting it without my blubber layer keeping me warm :)

Cuddle duds. Lined tights. Wool socks. And a tank top under everything. Keeps your core warm.

Going to google cuddle duds. Sounds warm! Thanks for the tips @@LipstickLady

Heated mattress pad for the bed is awesome

Munky

@@FunkyMunkyBrat @@ShelterDog64 I am maybe irrationally terrified those will start a fire, but also I have a really luxurious down feather bed I am loathe to replace....but thanks for the tip! Maybe when it gets even colder I'll just be like screw it and get one.

Yeah you guys, flannels are just not sexy! I am going to order a pair of flannel pjs anyway and I am sure I WGAF once I see how warm they are.

I am looking at The Company Store and they seem to rank comforters by warmth level. Anyone have any experience with those? I am sure the super warm one are sooooo heavy and hard to wash but they look joyous. They have a 25% off sale now too.

I'm in NC - we hit 40 overnight and I'm trying not to move from my foot warmers (aka dogs). I used to always be freezing, then I was always super heat sensitive and now I'm freezing again.

Listen, my brain is already bipolar, I don't need my body following suit. And I just swapped to the winter comforter!!! Brr.

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
