justwaitin2b banded in October and a bit scared

Wow - Okay well I'm new to this forum, not really sure what I'm doing. I am 38 yrs old, and have 7 1/2 weeks until I am banded. I have read everything I can find on Lap Band surgery, and feel prepared medically............ but mentally - I am scared!! I am scared that if I put myself and my family through all of this, and it doesn't work - what then??? I am 114kgs (sorry not good with pounds - I'm Aussie) and am not very tall at 5ft 4....... putting my BMI at 45. I have waited 10 months for my insurance period to expire, so I can get this done, I have tried every other weightloss plan/diet known to man, and I have researched every detail............... why then do I feel like screaming or crying half the time, and excited the rest...................I feel lonely, and scared! I can't see myself losing the weight, and changing my life like so many of you have....... it does not seem real.

I don't have many close friends I can talk with, and the ones I do have don't understand.................. I'm hoping for support and motivation from this forum, and I look forward to getting to know you all - Cheers Karen

I'll be thinking about you guys tomorrow. Yes, I've failed at everything in the past, but this is now. I'm sick and tired of feeling sick and tired. I'm ready to go!!! I won't be back until Saturday night. Unfortunately, I have a long flight and then 3 1/2 hours to drive the day after surgery. I'll look forward to logging on to see how everyone is doing. Good luck!!

Ok, I have done measurements, pictures, bath, shaved, packed my bag, cleaned house, and done all the laundry. Man, no wonder I am ready for bed. We have to be at the hospital at 7:30am. My surgery should be between 8:30 and 9:00. Thankfully, I live about 3 miles from the hospital, so I plan to be home early tommorow evening. I will let everyone know how it goes. I wil say a prayer for you as well, Artzygirl. Good night all. Tommorow is band day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey Amy - great description luvie, you are doing fantastic!!! keep posting - only 4 more sleeps for me now....... luv K

I am good. Quite a bit of gas pain today. DS and I have walked around the outside of the house several times. I think I am doing very well. I am starting to belch and pass some gas. I will be glad when I get rid of all this gas.

Your 4 "sleepy times"(as we call them at my house) will pass before youknow it and you will be in band land. I can't wait to hear about all of your success.

thanks Amy....... the girls here, recommend peppermint tea for gas, and chewable tablets called "DEGAS"...... do you have stuff like that?? hugs K

I can get peppermint tea. I don't know about degas, but we are going to Walmart tonight so I will look for it. Thanks so much.

hi Karen, I am just beginning this and you are my 1st quote, good luck to you and i hope to hear how you are doing soon! I have just scheduled my appointment to MEET with the Dr. But I am so anxious! I need this so bad so I can take my kids to Disneyland and ride all the rides with them. This is sad but it is my personal goal. I took them to Six Flags 3 years ago, and couldnt get the brace across us down enough to secure my daughter. I have never been back, and it is not thier fault.

Wow i rambled, sorry!

I guess your surgery is over by now. I want to hear from you as soon as possible. I hope you're feeling good. I have been praying for you.

I am on vacation out West for 3 weeks but I will check on you when I have internet connection. All the hotels aren't equipped with it yet.

Take care of yourself.

Thanks you guys. I got a french manicure so that they can still check for circulation. There was nothing on my day surgery instructions about polished nails. Oh well, if they take it off, it was very relaxing and a treat for myself that I rarely ever do. They may have to take it off one nail to put the pulse oximeter probe.

I will check in with you all after my surgery. I am certainly ready to move to the banded side of this journey.

:clap2:

Yellowsing,

I am doing well. Tonight we decided to go to Walmart. That was a bit much for 1 day post op, so I am kinda paying for it tonight. Still a lot of gas, but overall I am doing great. Thanks,

Amy

Amy, wow you went out to Walmart already! Holy cow! God Bless you! I am so happy to hear that you are doing well!

Karen how are you doing? Three more nights to go, any plans for the weekend?

I had my pre-op visit yesterday. It took 5 hours! 2 hours of the 5 were in a class about every step we will go through from the moment we get to the hospital till the moment we leave. It really was very informitive, and I felt better when I left. She went over everything that will be done and how and when it will be done. Then she went over what to eat how much to eat and drink. It was great. One thing she said to buy was little one ounce cups and to sip from them. This way you have an idea of how much to drink or eat at one time. She also said to puree shrimp, chicken or tuna with a little mayo. It tastes good and is high in protien. We are to eat only 3 times a day and have 3 protien shakes a day, take in a total of 64 oz of Fluid a day and one chewable Vitamin and some kind of chewable Calcium like tums w/calcium in them. Any way just thought I would share. Oh also she told me NO Fiber. I had bought the benifiber to take to keep me reg. but she said fiber is a no no since it will take up too much room in my new tiny pouch. So I bought some baby food prunes lol just in case.

The good news was that I lost another 10 pounds since I went to the DR on Sept 26th! I was so happy. I have 10 more days to go and hope to hit 40 pounds by then!

Hope everyone else is doing well!
