justwaitin2b banded in October and a bit scared

Recommended Posts

HI All,

Weekends are alway tougher! I know what you mean Fanny. My Dr. said no last suppers but I am feeling like I must eat all the foods I won't be able to eat after Oct. 30th. I know I use food for emotional reasons. I also know it will be easier for us if we follow the rules now.

I am going to start again tomorrow. I will do better, I wil do better I will do better...:help:

Yes, I have had the same problem... since I made my decision and my banding is scheduled, I'm eating foods that I don't normally eat. Like I'm saying goodbye, I think. The problem is they don't make me feel good, just temporarily taste good.

Hey guys! I went for my preop on Friday. Nerves are beginning to set in a little. My surgery is Wednesday. I have a little diarrhea today, but I really think it is just nerves. Normally I am not a nervous person. This is just such a major life choice. One I know I will be glad I made. I am having to make myself post this morning. I kinda just want to crawl into a little cacoon and wait for the surgery to be over.

Eileen,

Hi and welcome! I think everyone stays over night at least everyone I know of. Good luck and let us know how you are doing!

Best Wishes,

:clap2:I was so scared the night before surgery. I knew some one in my town that had already had the band. So I called her that night and she made me feel so much better. I had mine in July. No problems at all. And really you can still eat the foods you like after you get adjusted to the band. Which won't take long. You just can't eat as much. And isn't that what we all want?

I'll pray for you. I know things will go well.

I went to my Dr office this morning for measurements and preop pictures. The lady in her office that handles all of the lapband patients was banded 2 years ago. She was so reassuring. I am ready to get this done, and on to a new and better me. Actually, I just want to find the me that I lost under all this fat.

Karen, I am scared too. I am having my surgery on Halloween. I have researched the same as you and have some of the same doubts. The way I look at it is "what do I have to loose except the weight". I am trying to stay positive and pray for a good turn out after the surgery. My doctor assures me that if I follow the instructions and do my follow up that I will drop the weight. I plan to be at least 65 lbs. lighter by this time next year. I will be your friend so email me anytime you would like karlvr@yahoo.com . We can go through this together even if we are half way around the world from each other. I live a little north of Nashville, TN.

hey karlvr, thank you for your post, I wish you the very best of everything for your surgery too!! My suggestion for anyone getting banded on halloween, is to have something scary or funny written on big cotton undies, to amuse the surgical team, and give you that little he,he,he feeling!!! Tell me a bit more about yourself - I am always interested in having new friends............... hugs K

Well, tomorrow I am working at the hospital for 1/2 day and then getting a manicure and pedicure before the big day. It has been years since I have had either one so I am quite excited. I just got home from leaving my 11 month old at my inlaws. He will be there until Friday. It was a little sad to leave him, but man is my house quiet right now. Husband's gone deer hunting, older son is spending 1 night with my inlaws. I have the house all to myself. I have been very nervous this week, but as the big day approaches I am feeling rather calm and peaceful tonight. I hope it isn't the calm before the storm. LOL I can't wait to begin this journey. I am determined and ready!!! I will post before I leave for the hospital on Wednesday and as soon as I am home and awake. Thank you all for your support. Can't wait to see everyones progress as we reach our goals. God Bless.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
