Is it just me or do you feel cut off from society? I feel very awkward since my surgery. Isolated, sad, having a really really hard time sleeping? Sorry for the depression feed. Just wondering if I am the only one?

I'm sure you' re not the only one. Now you've got me worried, I feel that way waiting for my RnY, I don't mean to have the prospect be my defining moment, but I also feel cut off from "polite" society. Let's get thru this together, okay? Rosey Posey

After surgery as you lose weight and lose your fat cells, these cells not only release fat but also the hormones and chemicals that they store. Thus it is common for some individuals to get a hormone flush which can affect their mood. These hormones and chemicals are normally flushed through the kidneys and expelled in the urine. Thus it takes a lot of fluids to make this process work correctly.

So make sure you meet your daily Fluid requirements and then some.

Also as you transition from the weight loss phase into the maintenance phase, this hormone flush should ease up.

Oh no you aren't the only one. I have an amazingly supportive husband but still feel alone and "regretful" at times. I think it's pretty normal. I do see a therapist 1/wk and have for the past 3 years. She says it's normal.

Hi heather! I am in Yuba City, so not too far away.

I havent felt isolated yet, mostly because my husband is really helping and i didnt hide my surgery from my coworkers. They are frequently checking up on me.

I am a smidge worried about mood swings from the hormone dumps because i am bipolar and already predisposed (hence the crying over ice cream in a previous post). You can always reach out to us here... but make sure that you are not excluding, accidently or on purpose, the people around you that can be your support.

I am 5 days post op and went out for the first time with friends last night. I felt a bit disconnected as well. As everyone else was eating I couldn't. I just said my tummy was not feeling too well because I haven't told my friends about the surgery.

In the future (especially when everyone can tell I'm losing weight) I think I will just explain that I am on such a great diet that I don't want to cheat. I will definitely still go have a glass of wine with them and eat some Tomato Soup or something that I can eat while they eat their meal.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
