Oh ok.

Well I think IM goin to go ahead and get signed up for a seminar for Dr. C and then one for the other place I have in mind.

Guess I'll call insurance tomorrow to make sure Dr. C or the other is in network.

I called my family doc and told them I needed all my records and the referral letter as well. So hopefully they will have that done in a couple of days. Then I can make my appointment with the doc I decide to go to. I hope it all goes smoothly!

Thanks again for replying!

THanks..

Im even more confused now. lol

Ive been reading more on Dr. C's site and they talk about insurance acceptance alot. Then I found a spot about how they dont accept any insurance. WTF???????? lol

Guess Im goin to have to make calls tomorrow.

Then they said something about a $400 fee up front. :(

The other doc Im considering is $150.

Decisions!

I think his web site probably needs to be updated since they switched some things in January. Yes do make the phone call, and check around. I think Dr. C is awesome. But if he hadn't been in network at the time I had my surgery I would have had to find someone else I could trust who was. Make sure you get someone who is experienced. I know it's probably going to get more and more difficult as insurance companies are paying only about 1/4 of the charges for the hospital and doctor to their in network providers. I can't blame them for not remaining in network.

Hey guys! Just a note for anyone considering having this done... DO IT! I was a little skeptical after my first fill and not feeling much difference. I've had my second fill now and things are going so good now! It feels good to finally be moving in the right direction. Thanks for everyone's support!

Hey

Just banded this last week by Dr. Curry. I am a little weak from the less calories but decided after talking to the dieticians to track my Protein and make sure I'm getting enough. I had a great experience as far as Dr Curry is concerned, his whole staff has been most helpful and I really feel like they give you all the tools to succeed. I lost 14 lbs in the pre-op diet, which I was afraid of, but Rebecca one of the dieticians gave me a pep talk about it and now I feel great. I think it just rethinking a few things and following the rules about eating and drinking! I am excited, I feel I'm on my way!

Good Luck to you all!

After going to all of the informational sessions that the various Dr's in Cincinnati offered, I chose Dr. Kerlakian as my physician. I liked Dr. Curry, but did not like that he was not in a network with any insurance company and I would have to prepay a large sum of money, (I don't remember the amount). Dr. Kerlakian was a good fit for me with my insurance and the physician. He was very practical with me and explained everything. I made the final decision to have my surgery and payed my program fee about a month ago, I flew through the rest of the details and appointments. I just got my approval letter and am expecting to have surgery around November 11th!

Good Luck to you. I like Dr. Kerlakian alot, he has great bedside manner. Maria, the nutritionist seems a little airheaded to me. I only saw her twice because I never felt comfortable with her. I am 13 months out and 75 pounds lighter and down 4 sizes, If you asked me would I do it again, I would have to say I am in the minority and I would say knowing everything I know now, I would not do it again.

What happened with your experience that would cause you to not do it again?

I have an impossible time eating. I can not eat meat, bread or rice and Pasta is very tricky. I can not eat raw vegetables so a salad is out of the question. I have to eat every 2 hours or I get very shaky. Needless to say I am more aware of food now than I have ever been. I carry food with me at all times. I eat the same thing everyday because I know what works and what I can get down. If I get something stuck, it is so very painful and will take at least an hour to go down or come up. That usually gives me a panic attack, I have had the life squad at my house more than once.

I know this experience is different for everyone so I wish you better luck.

Can anyone tell me how much Dr Curry charges for self pay lap band surgery? It's not so much that I am bargain shopping because I am not, I just need to know what I would be looking at as far as cost. Thanks!

I was banded by Dr Mobley at cincinnati weight loss center, and I couldn't be happier. The Dr's and staff are fabulous! They have a web site if you are still making your decision.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
