  1. Hey guys! Just a note for anyone considering having this done... DO IT! I was a little skeptical after my first fill and not feeling much difference. I've had my second fill now and things are going so good now! It feels good to finally be moving in the right direction. Thanks for everyone's support!
  2. My Dr. gave me some glue remover pads to remove the sticky film, but he also said non-acetone nail polish remover works also.
  3. I was banded yesterday by Dr Kerlakian and I feel great!! Question though, he used a new band on me called the AP Band (advanced platform). Does any else have this one? I'm thinking I was Dr. Kerlakians's first, but I'll have to ask. Just curious to see what this is all about. Not much info out on it yet!
  4. I'm so glad you're here Christine. I hope to have the same experience afterwards with him!!!
  5. I'm glad I'm not the only one discouraged by Dr. Kerlakian. Well, I guess we just have to make the decision for ourselves. Whether or not he like the band, at least I've heard he's a great surgeon. Though if my insurance allowed me to have it done somewhere else, I would definitely have gone elsewhere.
  6. That is so great, congratulations!!! I'm very, very glad to hear that. I do like Dr. Kerlakian, and you're right he's very honest. I am glad for that. I guess I'm just getting the last minute jitters. Vickie just called and said I'm in first thing on Monday morning. Here we go!
  7. Thanks, you make some great points. I just felt so discouraged after talking to him. I go to Dr. Kerlakian at Good Samaritan Hospital. My grandmother had hers done a couple of months ago at Jewish Kenwood and is having a hard time losing anything. Well, I guess it's worth a shot!
  8. Help! I'm supposed to have the lap-band done on Monday. My doctor tried to talk me out of it, and instead go with the new gastric sleeve. He said the band is not nearly as effective as they first thought. He said expect to lose 30% of the excess weight. He also said in Europe studies are now showing 1 in 2 lap bands are being removed. So many people on this website are saying they aren't losing anything... but most of you seem to be doing well. Please give me some encouragement!
  9. I'm so scared. I'm supposed to have this surgery this coming Monday, and I'm on the liquid diet doing what I am supposed to. BUT... when I went for my last appointment at the Dr. he tried to talk me out of this surgery. He said it's not nearly as effective as they first thought, and that one in two bands in Europe are being removed. So I decided to look online at what people are saying about their bands and found this site. It seems like other than the first few months... 9 out of 10 people are disappointed and feel like they are failing. I have to pay 50% of this surgery, so over $7,000. Someone please tell me it's worth it????????
