First Fill

Recommended Posts

Next week will be three weeks for me. I am actually scared to my first fill. I haven't been able to eat normally for so long that I just want to graduate to solids and stay there for a while....

Anyone else feeling this? On the one hand I want to eat normally for a while and on the other hand my weight loss has stopped so I want to get it going... Hmph!

I go in tommorow for my first fill. I am slightly nervous about it only because I will be relearning what I can eat. I am hoping that they can find my port easily!

I am so dissappointed. I went for my first fill and they couldn't get the port. It sounded like the needle was hitting metal. I have to go back friday to see the doctor and probably get xrays. They kept saying to hope that it was at an odd angle...

No not unless its' needed. Today I saw the nurse practicioner right before close. I guess that is going to be an option for Friday... All I can say is I am hurting from being stuck so much. and I hope that friday is not a repeat of today. I have an hour drive home and I was booking it to get to my tylenol.

I'm four weeks post-op and had my first fill today, under flouro. It went really quick and easy. I barely felt it-- even asked if the needle was in. I watched my stomach on the monitor as I drank the berium. It tasted awful but looked cool. I'm down 27 lbs and feelin good! Yippee! :whoo:

I had my first fill yesterday and was so relieved! Had been really dreading it but it was a breeze. Hardly felt needle at all felt Fluid going in but didn't hurt. I found out i have band that had 2cc already when put in and he put 1cc in yesterday. It can hold up to 10-11cc. i felt alittle tightness in chest & had some gas pain again like when first got band but today is gone.My doctor said get appointment for next fill for 1 month. They don't use fluro but he got it first time. i have to stay on mushies today but then solid food. I am excited about being on solids but am little worried about trying some foods. I was banded on aug 15th have lost 24 lbs total. August Bansters Go! It is worth it. Feeling so glad i did this. Wishing everyone good fills and success in the rest of our bandsters journeys.

I went back to my doctor today and they are now saying that my port is flipped. This is only the second time in 6 years that a port has flipped before the first fill. So they scheduled me for flouro and a port surgery in the same day. Waiting on them to call me with the date... Sucks because I am at a standstill with the weight loss. ....

First Fill....

I had my first fill yesterday....It was simple and painless. No fluro, no Barium swallow. I layed on the table, put my hands behind my head and did a stomach crunch. My doctor felt with his fingers and made an X with a pen. He then gave me a topical and followed with the fill. Easy as pie! (low fat sugar free pie of course!) I now have 1cc in a 4cc band. I did stay and drink 6oz of Water to verify that I did not have any problems swallowing, which I did not. I was told I could come back in 2 wks for another. I went ahead and made that appointment! As of yet, I can't tell a difference. I am sort of relieved. I didn't want to go back to total liquids or mushies. It's been nice to chew real food!

Oh! I'm so sorry to hear that! I'm hoping and praying that you will get in quickly, everything goes better than ever and you have a super speedy recovery. {{{hugs}}}

I know that you must be disappointed about the slow in weight loss. Just remember that this time period is all about recovery and many people gain before they hit their "sweet spot". You truly are doing so great, especially in the face of further obstacles. You're brave, encouraging and you'll pull through this better than ever!

Please keep us posted.

Hello everyone. My band was done on August 13th, '07 at 10:30 at night by Dr. Rodriguez. Although it was so late, it was a good surgery. My first fill is scheduled for Novermer 25th. I should be ready for a second fill by then. Can anyone in or around Kansas City tell me if there is anyone that could possibly get me in before then. Malley is where I am scheduled. Help!!!:)

Hi Rosie here, finally. My troublesome computer is back, fully relaoded and working fine, so now I can keep in touch.

My first fill is Wednesday, and thank heaven for this forum . My doctor's office did not say a thing about not eating before, so I will call just to check what I should do. I am so ready. I have not gotten weighed cause I am afraid to, but during the first three to four weeks, I had lost over 20 pounds, was not hungry, could eat 3 orf 4 spoonfulls and feel full. Week 5 that disappeared and I am hungry and am capable of eating a lot, a very lot. I am scared I have gained.

I will let you know how I do Wednesday.

Rosie

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
