I wanna tell my story!

So I am a 31 year old woman from Texas who has been overweight since day 1. I came from a family of large people and diabetics. My mother is the only one who was thin in the family and boy did she hate me. I was raised by my grandmother who did what she could on limited income. food for us was usually fried chicken, macaroni and cheese, or some other unhealthy concoction. Not to mention sweets everywhere! And the woman was a diabetic.

My mother would berate me for my weight and at the same time never encourage me to do sports and would always give me treats as rewards for good behavior, grades or because I was sad.

By the time I hit middle school I was probably in the 170 range and high school I tipped it at 220. I was a little active in the marching band, but, poor food still.

Now don't get me wrong, I struggled with body image but by the time I had three failed diet/exercise routines I was 27 and I began to actually accept that I was bigger. I loved my body for what it was and continued to try and walk or do light weight stuff when I could until I got very bad anxiety. I ballooned from 250 to 300 on my wedding day (May the 4th 2015) in that time period. I was still happy with myself until my periods quit coming.

I got a new PCP who I love. She didn't point to weight for my non weight related problems like I'd had in the past. (For real I had a doctor tell me I got a sinus infection cause I was over weight. ). She worked with me for 4 months before bringing up surgery to help me lose weight to get my fertility back.

So, after allllllllllll of that I got sleeved on 9/14 of this year, just in time for Rosh Hashanah. I know I'm still feeling a bit under but I have faith by at the best, Passover, I'll be feeling great. Shanah Tovah indeed!

So that's my story.

Welcome, best of luck to you!

Where are you in Texas? I am in Plano, north of Dallas.

I wish you great success with your weight loss, that sinus infection story is just plain CRAZY!
