I am 4 days post op and I am weak and tired all the time. I read other post from folks that are 4 days out and it seem like they are doing leaps and bounds better than I am. I am repulsed by the thought of eating (who would have EVER thought that I could say that with a straight face) however I do well with fluids though.

When ever I eat I am ABSOLUTELY miserable. I ate 2 tablespoons of yogurt around 1200 and it is sitting in my stomach like a brick. I am so full and my well meaning family keeps trying to make sure that I eat...sigh. I just want to feel normal.

Are you getting any Protein in? Think out that yogurt with some unsweetened almond milk and see if you can drink the protein rather than eat it. I find the ready-to-drink shakes are gross and hard to swallow, so I am using Syntrax Nectars (powder) made with either unsweetened almond milk or Water. Getting the fluids in is very important, so you don't get dehydrated, so keep sipping. Baby sips, all the time. It helps if you are sipping something with protein in it, but if you have to do water or diluted juice to get/keep the fluids down, that's a start! Don't worry, it'll get easier. Just keep trying.

remember you just had a major surgery your body is thinking wth? and your taking in a lot less cals. i'm just over a week out i still get tired. i still have troubles getting Protein in. i can get my Water in now but not all that Protein i know it's important but take it slow and push yourself to do a little better each day. i don't think there's anyone who comes straight out of surgery and can get Water and protein in. ❤️best of luck

Had sleeve and hernia at 67, no pain after 8 hours outpatient, then home. I wonder sometimes why others have a rough go. Seriously I drove in 2 days and mall shopped in 4 days. The fear was the worst part, it was pure relief to be sleeved and feeling great.

Check the Protein you're trying to use too. I had such trouble with the shakes and it turned out that I was having trouble with the milk in everything. Once I cut out the milk, I was able to handle things a lot better.

But it's also possible your body just wasn't ready to move to full liquids yet. When my doctor approved me for puree recently, he said, "I'm okaying it, but your body might not, so take it slow."

Good luck!

I was on Water, CL, tea, broth for 5 days after surgery. Yogurt wasn't allowed. I was very weak and lighted until I started using the vitamin patches. That helped a lot. Didn't feel that much better until I was allowed the Protein Shakes.< /p>

I was so tired around that time, I would lift my arm to reach for something and it would be so sore and tired, the way your muscles are when you finish a good workout.

I had surgery on Monday and I haven't had much pain at all. I am so tired all of the time and I am taking about three naps a day. I am drinking and getting in Protein, but I just can't get my energy up. I figure each day should get a bit better and before I know it I will be up and around. Right now I am just enjoying my naps.

I was pretty weak 4 days out. I know I couldn't wash my hair the first week or so, my mom helped because my arms were so tired I just couldn't pick them up. It gets better. I'm 2 weeks out, was able to run errands for 3 hours yesterday then passed out. Everyone is just different.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
