So Sick of the Liquid Diet

Recommended Posts

I had GS surgery on 9/13 and I've rebounded so much better than I ever thought. No real pain to speak of, or any complications. Between the two weeks before and the last five days I'm sick to death of these Protein shakes and this liquid phase. I've enjoyed some SF Jello and pudding here and there and some Tomato Soup and broth but I am so ready for some other food!!!!!!! I can't take it anymore lol!!!!

Yeah, it gets old, but it's for the best. It's more of a prescription than a suggestion because you're healing. Your time for real food will come soon enough.

I'm also a 9/13!!! Hi, you are quite fortunate...for the gas and bloating I have had are most frustrating. I've also been up and about more than I or even some others, thought I would be. That part is good! Good luck with pureed food stage--I'm so looking forward to making some good healthy fresh veggie /protein blended Soups as Autumn arrives!

I'm 9/15, clear liquid only. I'm confused how to reach 800 calories??

I was told not to count calories at that stage. If you're allowed Protein shakes - that's really the only calories you'd be getting. Are you getting any Protein?
Yes, 1 shake a day at least, it's about 33g protein and 200 calories. There's no way I could get in 4 of those to meet my 80-100 protein goal.

That doesn't sound possible with clear!!!

I don't think it is. It'd be like 50+ popsicles lol.

Keep trying and do the best you can! Protein is critical to healing and weight loss! Just keep sipping! You will feel so much better when you're able to meet protein and Fluid goals!!! Hang in there @@rolosmom7 !

Thanks. I'm asking for some applesauce (SF) to be permitted to help swallow meds. I have an extremely strict surgeon, but I don't see how the applesauce could hurt 5 days out?

Hopefully can get a 2nd shake in tonight.

I was sleeved on 9/13 and dr says full liquids until 9/27. I cannot get enough Protein in at all and am very weak. I feel fine as far as pain goes as there is none of that. I just cannot do anything.

I have eaten yogurt, drank shakes and sipped tea all day. But seriously what can you do for weakness. Feel like I have been drained of everything I have.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
