September Sleevers!

Recommended Posts

No problems sleeping here, even though I've always had issues prior to surgery. I take a 5mg melatonin pill and it knocks me out way better than it used to.

Opposite, I sleep like a baby now and have plenty of energy next day. Before surgery I would be bobbing my head on the way to work and literally take a 20 minute power nap around 2. No problems now going all day without getting the least bit sleepy. My wife says I hardly snore now.

@@rolosmom7 this week was my first week of calories 900s. I eat every 2h and it's a true challenge. But I needed to increase in order to work out because I was negative. I'm hoping to see the scale to start moving now that my calories are up.

I'm struggling with Protein as well. On a good day I get 50 grams in. I'm trying to work on it more. It's so much more comfortable to eat Soup than chew food till it's mush.

I use to drink the protein powder mixes with no problem and after i had surgery i couldnt stomach them as i had to drink slow. Try Premier Protein they have a chocolate thats pretty good. 4g carbs and 30g protein in an 11oz drink. Muscle milk also has a strawberry that is just like strawberry milk but its only 20g protein so getting enough of those daily can get pricey.

But i def suggest the premier protein to anyone, its premixed by the way

My surgery was 9/1. I am also having trouble with getting more than 500 calories as well. I am getting my Protein and fluids in. I have lost 31.6 pounds, which includes 7 pounds from my 2 week preop (which I had to start on my 40th birthday.) I have been pretty tired so I have not started working out yet. I am cleared to eat all foods but can't eat much before I am full. So I am not getting many calories from food. I worry that my weight loss will stop with such a low calorie intake.

@@mkrumph do your research and find foods high in calories but healthy. Eat every 2hrs it's hard, start alarms to remember. This past week I've been able to consume 1000 cal I'm amazed myself. I'm going to start back working out now that I know it can be done. Prior My weight stalled and I think it was due to only 400cal a day. I'm hoping this increase in cal jump start my loss.

I was sleeved 9/19, getting in my 100 grams of Protein and 64+ounces of Water, about 800-1000 calories daily. I'm really working to up my activity and have hit 10,000 steps 4x this week, hope to squeeze in one more day of heavy walking.

I feel great. sleeping is improving very much from beforehand; less snoring, no waking, etc. But I'm not getting any energy surge I have heard about.

Down about 2 pants sizes and one top size, from what I can tell. I have many more clothes in smaller sizes, so I'm excited to purge the bigger stuff and work down from there.

I'm nervous I'm not losing as much as some others seem to do. I think I'm still eating too fast -- haven't slimed or puked or foamed, but a couple times I got too hungry between meals and ate fast/too much? Had that painful feeling in my chest, and once I had to lay down with the sweats.

Just worried this won't work. Probably irrational, but I just kind of almost can't believe it. I'm happy with my loss, but I still have so far to go.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
