First day on liquid diet!

Recommended Posts

@@luzR,

Congratulations on starting your liquid diet! It is so exciting to be taking this serious step towards weight loss surgery!

I know, it is very difficult. You have gotten some good advice about what to eat and how to fight the headache. Also, remember a couple of things. First, you will probably feel better within a couple of days as your body gets used to this drastic change.

Second, this is exciting! Scary and hard and painful, but so exciting! You are working towards something that will change your life, and that you’ve been wanting for a long time. Try to keep that in mind as the going gets tough. And it may help to focus just on this hour or today, and not think about the next few weeks.

Good luck!

So my surgery is September 28th and today is the first day of my liquid diet. 3 shakes, 2 yogurts,SF Jello and Popsicles. I'm having a really bad day so far, I have the worst headache ever and I want to kill anybody that even looks at me.. Lol Can anybody else relate? Any tips or suggestions to make this better? I need encouragement badly!!! Thanks in advance

We are surgery buddies! I start my liquid diet next Wednesday but it is all clear, no yogurt, cream Soups, or anything like that but at least it is only for 1 week. I wish you the best and a speedy recovery.

My date is 27th. Starting liquid diet today. Hopefully headaches will be a minimum, started weening off caffeine 2 weeks ago. You can do this, drink lots of Water, that's what I have been doing for past 2 weeks and I truly believed it helped with my headaches. Dr did not say had to lose weight just wanted liver to shrink some. Good luck everyone

Hello

I relate to you. But Alex is right. Just think of getting through today and ONLY today. If you think about the next 10 days you will go nuts. I read here that someone posted the following. I can't remember who it was but it was a lifesaver. (Thank you if you are reading this, bless ur heart)...

Grab a couple boxes of Low Sodium chicken broth (I got the great value brand from walmart) and then get some celery, carrots, a whole onion, garlic and some seasonings. Blend it all together and put it to boil with the chicken broth. Let the flavors penetrate the broth. Than strain it. Make sure you strain it. You just want the liquid. The chicken broth taste delicious. Taste just like homemade and not out of a box. I Strongly recommend this. That has been my life saver. I drink about 5 or 6 cups of that a day and I find it to really give me some energy and less headaches. I have been able to make it through 4 days of this. I also drink Power aid Zero. I sip on the constantly and it helps me fight hunger. I’ll also eat a couple of SF Jello with the broth. Another thing I’m finding good is the SF popsicles. It gives you the biting sensation you are missing. Something sweet after some hot broth is just perfect.

This is what has gotten me through the past days. I hope it helps. :)

I just wanted to add that after almost 2 weeks on a clear liquid diet, my breath smells somewhat funky (I can taste it!! ). Has anyone else noticed this?

I'm trying not to stand within breathing distance of people. I feel bad for my husband!

Gotta love Ketosis!

Started my liquid diet today. Sleeve surgery Oct 3rd. Today has been decent up to dinner. The smells made my tummy rumble so I went outside for a bit with me headphone and my nook. Ya, the ketosis sucks! Good luck everyone and you got this! Your stronger then you think!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
