My surgery is September 20th. I've been on my pre-op diet since Wednesday which consists of only high Protein, low fat liquids. I want to eat regular good so badly. I've been having really awful headaches and my body feels like Jello. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get through this phase of the surgery?

I know some on this site say that it gets better after the first few days. I begin mine on Wednesday. Good luck to you!

Mine got easier about the 4th day. It's a difficult diet, really you just have to keep your eye on the ball. I did my best to stay busy, keep full of liquids, avoid situations that might tempt you to go off plan. It's only temporary. I also took that time and wrote a list of all the things I was looking forward too after losing my weight. Every time I was having a hard time I looked back at the list and remembered just what I was working toward. I keep the list in my wallet still. I'm only a week pre-op but I look at the list almost daily.

As far as the headaches and body feeling like Jello. Yes I did have some times like that. Especially in the beginning of the two weeks. Basically your body is detoxing. It will get easier as time goes on. Try and get a variety of Proteins in so you don't get bored or tired of certain shakes. I have started drinking Isopure pre mixed drinks. They are a lot thinner and are easier for me to drink. Don't get me wrong I still can tell it's loading me up with Protein but they taste more like a regular drink to me. (Steer clear of the green tea one, it stinks so bad I can't stomach it)

Anyway I hope some of that help. Good luck on your journey and keep your eye on the prize!

I've been using a Protein powder my nutritionist suggested. It's called powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury. They really aren't they bad. They are also not as thick which helps. The thing I feel I'm having trouble with is that I'm not big on sweets and all the shakes and Protein Bars are sweet. I've had good willpower so far. It just gets hard sometimes. Thank you for sharing with me!

My nut and surgeon told me I can use to crystal light energy or I think they changed the name to crystal light with caffeine . They said it will help the headaches and still give me my Water intake.

Try having broth if it's allowed. Make your own, add spices to pre-made or strain Soup - it'll taste better. Hang in there!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
