He is a surgeon at the Queensway Carleton Hospital

Thanks! I'm booked an appointment to see him. I feel like I'm "cheating" on my own doctor LOL! But the thought of driving 10 hours to my own surgeon during the winter months has convinced me to stay closer to home.

Thanks, I just woke up at 5am today, spent about 9 hours on a train and paid about 200$ to go to tlbc for about 2 minutes. I was in toronto about an hour :S I think I'll try him next time. I think it wouldve worked today, all i needed was a defill.

Hope everything is okay Rob - you've been doing so well and it must be discouraging to have to slow down a bit. Good luck finding a local person to do your fills - that will certainly make life a bit easier.

Cindy

Just out of curiosity Aza,

When is your appointment with Dr. G?

I just want to get an idea of how busy they are.

Thanks,

Annie

How's everyone doing? I just got my third fill so I'm hoping to finally start feeling some real restriction. I've been drinking soda without any problems but when I tried to take a sip tonight it hurt going down. No more soda for me!

HI all, I had my second fill and am definitely feeling restriction. Need to watch the consistency of what I eat and slow way down.

But Aza, I have heard and read that sodas ( anything carbonated is a no no as the carbonation stretches the pouch and is bad after any kind of bariatric procedure. My doctor said to stay away from it for 6 months to a year.

Hello everyone,

I just came back from Dr. Gutauska's office for my 1st fill.

He was very nice and put me at ease right away.

He injected me with a freezing liquid before to help with the pain, the fill itself was painless. He gave me 1cc in a large band (not sure how many CCs my band can contain...) I have a feeling 1cc won't be enough since I haven't felt any restriction since I've had my band, but w'll see.

I already scheduled another appointment in 2 weeks.

Annie

I've read different things about it. My own surgeon doesn't have a problem with it. But you're right, better safe than sorry. I don't want to go through another operation just because I drank soda. So no more soda for me! Goodbye Diet Dr. Pepper, Diet Root Beer and Diet Cream Soda....sniff, sniff...I was relying heavily on these to satisfy my sweet tooth.

Hi Annie, you should really find out from your surgeon what size of band you have and if he put in any cc's during your surgery. Check out the thread in the fills forum about how many fills it takes before feeling restriction in a 10cc band. I would get fills in 2cc increments until you reach around 6cc's then go by 1cc until you feel restriction.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
