Hello all my name is Lorraine and I just had my lap band surgery aug. 24 2007 and it seems like I am hungry all the time, my stomach makes growling noises and it also feels like I have a cramp on the left side of my stomach constantly. I have started to eat like broiled fish along with the Protein Shakes. Am I suppose to be feeling this way?

Hello! I was banded on the 24th as well. I haven't been hungry at all. I've been on Clear liquids since last Friday. My doctor said I could have anything liquid, but not solids. Did your doctor say you could eat fish this soon after being banded?

I'm still sore, and walking slow, but other than that I feel great.

Good luck!

I had left side pain for about 2 weeks. I assume it is because that is where the band is actually on my stomach. I was banded 8-8-07. The growling noises went away about at the 2 week point. Everything has to re-adjust itself, its been all moved around. I have little restriction right now unless I eat too much and then it hurts. They say you dont get a lot of restriction until you start getting fils.

What are your post op diet instructions? I just had my two week follow-up today and was given approval to move into the soft food stage now (which includes fish), but before that I was on liquids only.

Your body is healing and that is where the pain is coming from. Follow your doctors instructions -- even if you drink 2000 calories and gain weight during this phase it is much more important to have only liquids than having smaller low calorie food which will involve you chewing and causing your stomach acid to work - this could affect your band adherence.

If you are in serious discomfort, I would call your doctor and go for a follow-up.

Hi,

I was banded on Aug 24, 07 and I am still on liquids. I do find however, that I need to sip all day long or I start feeling really lousy (achey, weak) does this happen to anyone else?

Now that is very comforting to know thats all I hear and I guess I'm taking it as hunger pains. Yes my nutrionist told me that I could each some musshy fish.

The growling might even be the gas that's still trapped from the surgery. Sometimes it can take awhile before it goes away. I had a lot of those same sounds and still do on occasion. I'm 9 days post op and had my surgery on 8/21. I'm still not hungry at all and I'm on full liquids according to my post op diet. I start on pureed on Tues.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
