Any October 2016 Sleevers?

Recommended Posts

How's everyone doing ? I'm very happy with my mini tummy. I still have some issues learning what I can and can't eat and get acid reflux for the first time in my life but I'm so happy to be losing weight. I hope everyone else is doing ok.

I am thrilled! It's been so much easier than I could have imagined. Not easy, just easier than expected. I was a 35bmi so weight loss might seem slow by comparison but I am thrilled. My biggest issue with food has been watching others be gluttonous at Thanksgiving. Congrats to all October sleevers.

Almost 8 weeks out and doing fab. So far I have been able to eat anything I try. Trying my best not to fall back on carbs like I used to. Had a rough couple of days right after I was cleared for all foods. I went a little overboard on the carbs. Otherwise, this whole journey is a learning process. I am relearning what being full feels like and learning to listen to my body when it tells me to stop eating. Also recently went back to my trainer so I can start toning my muscles in hopes of decreasing the severity of extra skin. Feels good to be active again.

Sister and I had sleeve done Oct 3. I started preop diet on Aug 3. HW 350. SW 301. CW 266. I gained 15 lbs at surgery time due to inflammation and fluids. But have since lost that. My sister SW 249. CW 219.

What are y'all eating? I'm struggling with getting enough food in. I forget to eat which is bad. I only had 438 calories today. My doc says I should be around 1000 calories a day.

Thanks

I had sleeve surgery on 10/5 and have been doing great! Like @@bwyjunky79 I seem to be able to eat anything (in very small amounts). I continue to focus on Protein and hydration, with fiber/complex carbs when I have room left. SW 228 CW 196 (and down from a tight size 16 to a size 12 - woohoo!).

@@TiredOfMyself - here is my usual food for the day:

Breakfast - coffee with nf milk, then 1 egg, 1-2 oz cheese

lunch - 3 oz grilled chicken, tuna salad or deli meat, 3 wheat crackers (encouraged by my NUT)

Dinner- varies every day but always 3 oz meat (tonight was grilled shrimp, the night before was pot roast) plus a few bites of vegetable

Hi Everyone! So far all is good, my date was 10/24. However, the doc said my Protein levels and b complex is severely low. I have to drink more Protein shakes a day. Other than that I do struggle with walking. I don't walk as much as I should. Yesterday was the first time I went out and actually walked for longer than 5 min. I did about a mile...it felt great but I didn't sweat 1 bit and was wondering was I doing the right thing? I start the gym today as well.

In regards to eating, I just want to be able to find a menu or even a plan that I can follow. I want more variety. I get tired of the same thing fast and just don't want to reach that point. Any suggestions? Would love to hear from you all!

I'm also doing good. My sleeve was done on 10/20/16. I am down 35 lbs so far. Actually lost one pound over the holidays which I am thrilled about. At least I didn't gain! SW 205 CW 170. My goal is around 140. I am now back on track for further weight reduction. Happy New Year everyone!

Hi all!

My date was Oct 3. I'm doing really well! Energy is off the charts good, feeling really healthy for the first time in over 20 years!

I've lost 83 lbs and have gone from a size 20 to an 8. I hike with my husband now and actually LIKE walking and being active now! VSG was the best decision I've ever made.

Eating is easier now. I can eat about 3.5 ounces of lean Protein and have added lots of variety to my diet; salads, fruit & veggies, etc.

Been meaning to post recent pics, so I will post them soon.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
