In 12 hours I will be sleeved. :)

I'm already in the hospital (surgery is at 7:45 tomorrow) and feeling a bit anxious. I was also given real food! Did anyone else got food day before surgery? It's really confusing... :D

Good luck! I hope everything goes well! I was not given real food the day before, but I have seen many other people have been allowed food up until surgery. Tips for after surgery- Remember to take small baby sips and walk, walk, walk!

Wow, they checked you in a day early? That sounds nice and relaxing!! Where are you having yours done?

Really surprised about the food, most of us are on Clear liquids the days before. But if your doctor ordered it, that must be in their protocol. Though, I can't say I would want hospital food to be my last "real" food before surgery.

Well I'm having my surgery in Belgium, so I guess the rules are a bit different. I didn't eat the food although it wasn't looking bad (there was butter and fluffy bread... :c). I also got a blood thinning shot in my leg and I'm supposed to shower with antiseptic soap today and tomorrow morning. :)

Thank you all for your support! :)

Best of luck with your surgery.

As to food, no, Inwas required to be on Clear Liquids 24 hours before surgery and nothing by mouth after midnight the day before surgery.

You were sooooo lucky. I basically starved myself on one Protein shake a day, Water, green tea an some diet sodas (I might have overdone it ;D). I will be super upset if it turns out I will be in a lot of pain or have complications. ;)

Hello all, I'm Wil and my big day is tomorrow as well... I'm in North Texas, and I didn't get any pre-op diet orders. I did however receive the antiseptic soap for for tonight and tomorrow, and the no food or Water after midnight. Good luck to everyone!

Hello everyone, I'm 12h after! I slept all day, had no pain whatsoever, though I felt a little bit gassy. I don't remember much of the operation, they sedated me a bit before and gave me Xanax to sleep the night. I have a drain on the biggest incision and was allowed to drink some Water and go to the toilet. :)

My experience so far- no need to stress about pain, your medical team will do everything in order for you to be comfortable. :)

How did it go?? My sx date is 8/30

Actually it was great. No pain, the medical staff was great. I barely remember anything- last thing joking about "air mask". ;)

Today I will have my leak x-ray and tomorrow I'm going home. :)

I think that sticking strictly to my liquid diet and being active really helped a lot.

Try walking a lot and drink lots of Water. I also tried every possible kind of green tea I could find not to get bored. :) I really think it helped a lot. You will be just fine! :)

PS. They didn't give me the traditional xray leak test. I have a drain in my stomach and they gave me blue Fluid to drink. It didn't end up in the drain so there are no leaks. :) My doctor said that the contrast used for xrays is hard to digest an can upset my stomach- I didn't know that. :)

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
