Sweats after eating

@Lipsticklady.. Thanks for the info. I did make it dry only a little liquid to smooth it out. I didn't think i ate to fast took me a good half hour to get a little over half down, but i will go slower next time.

The relish isnt a no-no? I didnt think to add that or mayo, i have a homemade hatch chile relish or an onion relish I make that I would like to add but affraid the heat/spice would be to much.

Yes too dry and eating too fast will make you sweat and very uncomfortable . I am a year post op. Still eat slow and make sure food is really moist.

Yup. Too much, too fast, too dry... Sweats.

My solution was adding mayo, a bit of relish and processing it almost to a purée. Even then, I could only eat a tablespoon or so. chicken thunks hard, even three years out.

Gravy, mayo, sauce... It helps the chicken go down.

I have a question about this...what's the general ratio of mayo/gravy/sauce to meat that you can add before it turns the meat into a slider food? Right now, I'm measuring and eating by quantity, not hunger, but I guess at some point my appetite is going to come back and I'm going to need to understand the impact of slider foods more then?

Edit: I have another question, can I call you Lippy? It's what I think of in my mind when I see your name, plus I wear this awesome Butter lipcolor called 'The Lippy'. It just works for me in so many ways!

I am 22 weeks out and still struggle with foods. I as well still weigh food out (4oz). I don't remember ever breaking out into sweats when eating but everyone's body reacts very differently to this process. Instead of sweat I had nausea with food and liquids. Did not progress my food as fast as I could have and it's perfectly fine. My dietitian just said try not to stay in fell liquids for a month or more. That you need to work on getting more items into your diet. More nutrition. Try as many didn't foods and try to find things that agree with you. It's going to try a bit of trial and error but it gets better. The reactions lessen and/or become more tolerable. And try not to beat yourself up because you feel you are not where the program suggest you should be. Keep up the work and keep us updated.

Isn't this very similar if not the same as dumping syndrome. It happens if you eat to quickly or eat very sweet food.

I'm 7 weeks out and have similar symptoms if I have something sweet. It's a very unpleasant feeling.

Dumping syndrome can be triggered by different foods for different people, sometimes food that is too dry or to high in fat, but typically it's sweet food eaten to quickly.

Dumping syndrome can definitely cause havoc. Like everyone else is saying, time will tell those triggers. And your actually reactions with the dumping syndrome can vary.

I have ate a little of everything, well not everything, but I've been eating chic for a few weeks,I've eaten a tuna salad sandwich,but I do take my time& once I feel full,I stop! But as far as sweating I've had on problem with that.I had my surgery July 6th,I've lost a total of 43lbs.I have even eaten a small piece of pizza.I haven't had any trouble at all,but everyone is different!!!

I'm 3 months post op a day this has started happening to me in the last 2 weeks...I get really hot and my head feels like it's on fire..I feel dizzy too. I have learnt to wait 20 mins or so and let it pass but I guess my eating habits need to be rewired (eat slower, eat less). It's hard when I'm barely eating anything.

I dumped straight away after a too dry scrambled egg, after beef mince, and after rich ice-cream. Feeling was awful, and with the minced beef I felt ill all day.

The only time I had Cold sweats, was early post op, just under 2 weeks, I was dehydrated. My skin was cold and clammy, I was told I looked grey and I felt faint, and my pulse was racing.

I was given Hydralyte (electrolyte drink), and bounced back within 15 minutes. Very unpleasant experience!

Never happened again, as I became very mindful of Fluid intake.

Like I said before, when on purees, I was adding chicken stock to my Protein purees, such as chicken and salmon, as well as adding runny yoghurt to them, to make them moist.

I could only eat about a boiled eggs worth of food at a meal no matter what it was and if I took one bite to many it hurt and I broke out in the sweats . At first it was about 2 teaspoons of food . And yes gravy ,mayo, any condiment helps. I am only 16months out and I can now eat about 2 boiled eggs worth of food for meal. Good luck you are doing great

I will admit I am nervous with the idea of eating and messing up all the work my doctor did. I have no desire to have to go back under the knife for this, I am already going threw the steps for more back and neck surgery.

I was never much of an eater, I was one of those who snacked on what I thought was healthy food and only ate one huge meal at diner. I also lived off coffee with Creamer. When I had to force myself to eat 3 times a day I really started to drop weight and contemplated no having surgery but decided to go threw with it because I know myself and falling back into bad habits is to easy for me.

I also was never a person to enjoy milk products so having to drink the whey Protein drinks isnt sitting well for me.

Thank you for your input and being to mind things I hadnt considered.

This is similar to my situation. Now post-op I'm struggling to eat. If it wasn't for my daughter I would go days without eating. I'm almost 4 weeks out no hunger feeling what's so ever. My doctor said I'm not losing enough cuz I need to eat and drink my Protein shakes. All I had all day yesyerday was some scrambled eggs and I barely finished it. I don't know what to do I'm just not in the mood to eat. food goes down with no problems just don't have an appetite

Try to stay away from spicy hot foods, u said u added pepper. Not sure how much u added but that could be the cause. I cant eat anything too spicy and too much pepper doesnt sit well with me. Also if i ate sweets even a tiny piece i had the sweats. Im a dec 2015 sleever

Thank you all for you stories and input.

Started this morning off with a tiny bowl (1oz worth) of pureed baby carrots. These may necome my favorite food for the time being.

I do have a question for those of you who have more time in.

I live in las vegas where we are having 110+ how do you keep enough Water down with getting ill? Ive been trying to sip all day but i either drink to much and get sick or not enough and feel dehydrated?

You need Protein. Baby carrots are a sugary carb. This may make you hungry and crave sugar.

Have you tried yoghurt?

Chobani Greek yoghurt has a high Protein content. You can add Protein powder to it.

You could even add few baby carrots to it. As long as you eat mainly protein food, very important in recovery!

Can't answer your question re Fluid intake. I live in Queensland, so it is very hot and humid here during the summer.

I lived in air-conditioned places, my house, work, shopping centres.

If you can't manage enough fluids, perhaps get a bottle of Hydralyte or Gastrolyte, to ensure you have your electrolytes in balance, and as an emergency drink, if you get dehydrated.

I hope you don't get dehydrated though, as it was an awful and scary episode for me.

You have to eat and get in your protein and fluids whether or not you are in the mood. Protein is critical for healing and for weight loss.

I am trying to get in the Protein. I just cant seem to hold it down and I'm so tired of trying to keep from vomiting or worse yet actually vomiting. I gave up on the Isopure drinks and bought some Atkin lift drinks. I did okay on the iso-100 powder with almond milk for a few days but again started the vomiting. I do get my Vitamins in. I tried blending ice with the Protein Drink like an icy but it is nasty and everything seems to taste like sour milk if it has dairy or whay in it. The worst part is feeling to full, Water logged or over stuffed no matter how little i take in.

There always feels like there is something sitting in my throat waiting to make its escape.

I did end up in the ER week 2 for pain and found out it was pancreatitis,i just havent felt right since and acid is even worse since then. I was supposed to see my doc on Wednesday but had to reschedule due to a back procedure i cant put off any longer or insurance wont cover.

Sorry i dont meant to whine or complain. I know its all about time and healing.

      Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

      Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
