Everyone's plan and choices are different. I encourage following what ever plan is given by your medical professionals.

I think its important to learn how to fuel your body to be healthy. Whatever that looks like for each of us.

Jen,

No worries! Just didn't want to be "a newbie who was promoting not sticking to plan"....my thought is that if someone was going to eat them, I was going to possibly offer an alternative that would provide more than just carbs :) lesser of evils I suppose!! Lol

Working beyond grief for a better life!

@@beyondgrief - I have not had this brand, but I have eaten Mancakes:

https://www.eatmancakes.com/product/buttermilk-mancakes/

I chuckled at the name too, but they were pretty good. I would not recommend eating these early on; say less than 6 months. But if you are going to be hitting the gym hard or working outside all day, a calorie dense Protein + carb meal like these actually make a lot of sense.

Oh, I also use sugar free Syrup. Not for any other reason than I prefer to it to the real stuff. Real maple syrup is just too potent for me!

Please share how they turn out, it seems for newbie that it would be too large, but completely on plan for me. I could make my husband eat the remainder!

Let me know how you think it tastes.

@@chycky - OK, I just finished my "pancake". I used this powder:

Metabolic Nutrition Protizyme Butter Pecan Cookie

http://www.vitacost.com/metabolic-nutrition-protizyme-butter-pecan-cookie-2-lbs-1

2 eggs smidge of baking powder and milk instead of oil. The while cooking, I swear the thing doubled in size. It was very filling. I would also not call it a pancake, it was much more like french toast. And let me tell you, I am totally cool with that because I do miss french toast!

I think I may have over cooked it though, I like my french toast to be more like a custard. I do recommend trying it, but just know that it is sitting kinda heavy on my stomach even after an hour. Not a bad sensation, but it is very filling.

Thanks! I may get to eat a smidge of it and have my Guinea pig make out with the rest!

Do you think unflavored whey would be ok?

Do you think unflavored whey would be ok?

Oh god no! I remember thinking that unflavored whey was going to be the only way I was going to be able to eat Protein powder. They are all awful. I never found a single one that was tasteless. Though to their credit, they don't advertise tasteless; they advertise they don't add anything to cover up the nasty-ass plain whey!

If you absolutely must use unflavored then you will want to add some vanilla extract or Torani Syrup to the batter. Man, I just shuddered with revulsion at the thought of an unflavored whey pancake!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
