Aloha Boys and Girls,

I'm getting on the band wagon tomorrow so wish me luck. I think i introduced myself in here but i got no response. I'm starting one day Clear Liquids which i know will be challenging since i have to be out and about today and have a pre op orientation with the nurse. My kids will be off of school this week so i know this will be challenging for my hubby to take care of me, baby, and them. I have teens so they will help the younger ones. I'm ready to start my journey and am peace with myself going in. I will check in a few days out to let you know how i'm doing. Im always on my computer so it will be a challenge for me to be off for a few days. Aloha and God Bless You All.

Miriam, good luck tomorrow! I'm very excited for you and everyone else starting on this journey. I'm scheduled for the 23rd so you'll have to let me know how everything goes. How old are your children? I've got a 12 & 17 year old so it will really just be me that hubby has to take care of. I have so much going on this month that I know the 23rd will be here before I know it. Take care and be sure and check in to let us know how everything went. I'll be thinking of you.

Donna

Good Luck with your surgery Miriam. Hope everything goes smoothly!

David: I agree with the picture thing you mentioned. I also knew what the scale says but when I was part of a friends wedding on Sept 1st I wore a floral print skirt and top. When I saw the pics I literally said out loud,"My God it looks like I'm a @#*!ing tapestry!" I looked like I could cover a wall! I figure these will make great befor pics.

It's hard for me to individually say hello to everyone- accept in this generic way- "HI EVERYONE". I hope all of us October bandsters are doing great. How exciting that our month has come! Finally!!

Good Luck to all of you with surgeries this week! I'm excited for you! My surgery date is set for October 18th. 17 more days- Yippee!

Take care~ Tina

Good luck to everyone! I have been thinking of all the Oct. 1 bandsters! I hope they are doing well.

Nicnaknuk...I am heading to Colorado on Wed. One daughter lives in Colorado Springs and one is in Boulder. Enjoy the traveling. Will you be taking your pre-surgery diet food with you? I LOVE to eat while I am driving. It will be hard to break that habit.

My prayers are with the Oct. 2 bandsters. Good Luck!

Hugs!

Hi Tens, I will be banded on 6th October in Sydney Australia. The payment system is obviously different here. I am fully insured so have to pay an upfront $500 (USD350) for private hospital. I then expect to be out of pocked approx $4000 (USD3000). So, it's not small change but it's going to be worth it. I haven't had to have anything like the build up that some of you have had. There was an information night at the hospital, followed by two appointments with the surgeon and my confirmed banding date. The whole process has only taken 6 weeks. I went a bit crazy for the first couple of weeks and ate like I was going to have to starve for the rest of my life - but I've got my head round it and have been much more sensible for the past couple of weeks. I have been advised to have 2 shakes per day and 1 low cal meal. I've been using Optifast coffee flavour which is just like iced coffee so not too bad. Only 4 days to go. I'll let you know how I feel. Cheers

I leave for Denver in the morning so of course I can't sleep. Too excited or too many years as a night owl, I'm not sure. The past month has flown by and some of our friends are already on their path to recovery.

I am anxious to meet Dr. K and thursday can't come soon enough.

I have a friend that was banded 2 weeks ago today and has lost 20 pounds already. Some of that was pre-op diet but I'm impressed. She went back to work and feels good .

I will be away from the computer for a few days but as soon as I am home, I will be checking up on how you all are doing. Good luck to all of this weeks bandsters . To all that are done already, take care of yourself and don't push the healing process. Taking care of yourself will give you the strength to take care of others that you care about.....:clap2:

Lafs, I wish you the best of luck on your banding. I agree with you that Thursday can not come soon enough. It seems like it is taking forever to get here. I met my surgeon today and we are all set for thursday. Good luck to all this months banders, I will check in Friday and let you know how things go.

until I join the banded! I didn't sleep much last night, that's probably pretty normal. I'm anxious and excited and ready to be back home! Luckily the hospital is about 5 miles from my house so I don't have to travel far.

Good luck to the other 10/2 bandsters!! :whoo:

Hi to the Tenacious Tens,

I am pencilled in for surgery on 31st October (providing my appointmnet with surgeon goes ok on 11th.

I am currently about 110kgs (242lbs), 30 years old with 3 boys aged 5 and under. I am really excited about starting this new phase in my life, but as many others have already said, I am worried about actually managing the liquid diets pre- and post-op.

Since I will be virtually the last bandster for Oct '07 ( I live in New Zealand, so my 31st comes before anyone elses!!!) I look forward to keeping up to date with all your experiences, and hope you can offer me some much needed support.

My 2 wk liquid pre-op diet shoulkd be starting on 17th October.

Bye for now

Kathryn

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
