You're very sharp, too. :)

d'awwwww. You're going to make me blush. ;)

I have always enjoyed online communities as well. It's nice to find people who have things in common with me and chat with them. It's one of the ways I think the 'net has helped improve life in general. Of course, you take the bad with the good, but I think it's more good than bad. BP actually has little drama compared to some other boards I've been on, and is loaded with helpful people. :D

Wow, another thread missed....but then it is threads like those I avoid...being a Vet, I avoid certain threads, just by their titles...over the years it's been the same old same old...

I don't believe it's my place to give advice to anyone....it's a free world, do what you want to do and I will do the same.

All I can ever do is share my experiences, what I do or have done, and still be 110% successful.

But if it is good for anyone else is any body's guess.
Do I expect people to do what I tell them to do? Of course not! And I have done a lot of things with this WLS that are probably (definitely) against the mainstream way of thinking. (for the newbies I won't mention them)

As far as bacon....I gave up all meat 4 months from surgery, as a direct result of surgery. I have never felt better for doing so, and have won the praises from all my Dr.'s....
Should I advise others here to do the same? Is it the only path to success? NO! Of course not. I can only share what I have done.

On the flipside, I had black coffee 12 hrs after surgery...should I tell people it's ok to do so?? Again, of course not!

Alchohol, popcorn, bacon, straws, carbonated drinks, cakes, Cookies, midnight Snacks, etc, etc...the list goes on and on...it was here 6 years ago, and it will be here 6 years from now....

Do my feelings get hurt? No...Do I get tired and loathe such posts...Yes.

BTW, there was a forum just for "Vet's"...didn't work out well IMO, even Vet's can't agree on everything...it's a free world.

You know what they say about opinions...eveybody's got one.

I've said it before...people here come and go all the time, everyday.....people who were here when I joined, are all long gone...

I stick around for the entertainment mostly.

Please, where is this bacon thread? I thought the chicken, potatoes, and gravy 9 days post-op was shocking, but bacon....wow.

Yes, let's have a party with bacon, Cheeseits, loads of alcohol, pizzas, steaks, and throw all post op instructions to the wind!

After all, the Baby Stomach can go straight into eating steaks and hard to digest food, right ???

Wash it down with few wines or beers or tequilas, babies drink this too, right ???

The hell with baby type food ..... ;) ;) ;)

So it's very obvious the new newbies want nothing to do with hearing what successful WLS patients have to say. The recent debate over the the eating bacon 1 week postop makes it perfectly clear that what they want is for someone to tell them it's OK to be stupid. They are not interested in listening to their surgeons or nuts or veterans. Self sabotage is the new fad and compliance is apparently out of style. I made the mistake of responding to the post when, as a veteran, I should have known better. Turns out I'm just a big meanie (no surprise there!) At this point it's 95% newbies posting on that thread who don't have a clue what the long term repercussions of eating off plan so soon will lead to. The blind leading the blind.

Oh well. It will be interesting to see the stats of successful EWL go down over the next few years as more and more unprepared, uncommitted people continue to have WLS. In the meantime, I'm outa here. The newbies won. As hard as it is to tear my eyes away from the car wreck, I just can't take anymore people that do stupid **** and then whine about getting their feelings hurt. Someone PM me when the grown ups start joining again.

I'm sad to hear this Kindle ... I am a newbie and totally am absorbing what all you vets have to say. Hope you come back soon.

Life is too damn short to answer truly ignorant and dangerous posts. Stick to the real people in need.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
