@kittymom. I'm in Richmond Virginia. I don't have a date but I do know they have submitted all of my paperwork. Good luck to you. Who is doing your surgery ?

I am having my surgery @ Spotsylvania Regional Hospital. Dr Jamal.

Thank you for the well wishes. My approval came pretty quick, I'm sure you'll have yours in no time. Good Luck!

Yeeesss me! I got approved for surgery so quick took like a month because I had several doctor records trying to lose weight since middle school and all failed so now I'm 25 and scared as crap bc my support group is small as well as my support team but I know that it's within myself where my support really relies on. But my surgery is September 20th 2016, yaaaay let's get it!!!

Melanie 89 Im in Atlanta Ga, USA, My insurance is covering my bcs I have High blood pressure also and sleep Apnea. But Like you Im so nervous and not sure whats going on my weight has gone up now that Im getting close to surgery and its not like im eating more I went to the doctor today and I was told that it was due to anxiety that triggers the gain weight... so Im keeping my fingers crossed

Hi etorres - this is my first time on the site, so forgive any obvious mistakes. My surgery is scheduled for September 12. I, too, am excited, nervous, and sometimes even afraid. I'm sure this is normal, but when you're going through it it's awful! Do you have to do the two week pre-surgery diet? I think I'm more afraid of that then anything. So afraid it will be so hard for me that I'll give up. Good luck to you and I'll be standing by for more posts from you.

Good Morning All!! So I am hoping to find a group of September Surgery Buddies here!! I was originally scheduled for August 4th, and then due to the surgeon's conflicting scheduling (a scheduling error I'm sure) and my already standing Labor Day Weekend plans, we postponed until September 28, 2016...

Currently, I am not on any "diet" per se, but I am doing my best to eat "clean", and I have started to workout as well.. I figured I might as well get into the habit before the surgery. Hope to hear from you all soon!! Take care!!

I start my 2 wks pre surgery diet Sept 5th. I've cut out all sweets (my big downfall has always been my sweet tooth!) and am down to very little caffeine already. I would normally have alot of coffee with sugar & cream in the mornings. Now I have a cup with splenda & cream and then a cup black. Also was a huge diet pepsi drinker and am trying to just drink Water. At the most I'm having 1 can of soda a day now. Ik the 2 wks thing will be difficult but I'll stick to it. I saw my surgeon yesterday and he patiently answered all my questions. He seems very nice. My surgery is Sept 19th. I have been working on this all summer and am both scared and excited.

Hey you! I got my surgery date of Sept.6th 2016. I am excited but nervous as well. There isn't much of a support group here where I live and hoping that this group will help.

I have been thinking a lot about the changes that we are all about to take and I know this is the best decision we are making because this means that we are making a difference for our self. Do not let nobody put you down or make u fell bad. A lot of changes are coming. ARE U PREPARE????

I am definitely physically prepared and exhausted but emotionally I have been shedding tears (and I'm not a crier, I take Zoloft and that basically makes you emotionless). So I find it weird that I am teary...maybe because my longest relationship is going to be ending. Maybe?

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
