RICHMOND, CA KAISER ANYONE?

Recommended Posts

I had my appt with dr baggs yesterday. I am less than 5 lbs from my goal weight but the psych spots are booked through November. I have to call on Friday for an appointment in December or to see if they've had any cancellations. Crazy they have 4 surgeons but only one psych and case manager.

Agreed - and the psych is part time! Mine was the same thing (4 lbs to lose and psych got scheduled over a month out), but I literally started calling every other day until there was a cancellation (and eventually I got an appt that was almost three weeks before my original one).

I will be going to my orientation on the 17th in Richmond. Those of you that live in Vacaville do you have to go to the Richmond Kaiser for everything or do they allow you to do some things at the Vacaville Kaiser (labs, xrays, etc.)?

I hate driving on 80 and anything I can get done in town would be awesome.

Labs and such you can do at your local kaiser. Vacaville kaiser has a bariatric support group as well (they strongly recommend you attend at least 1). But you have to go to Richmond for your orientation, surgeon spots, psych appt, case manager appt and any additional appoints they may require based on the above appointments.

Be prepared mentally to start your pre op diet right away. They look to see if you've lost weight between orientation and your next appointment and I think that has a huge part in the goal the surgeon sets for you. He was very happy with what I lost between orientation and my appt with him.

@@krissyfattofab That's awesome! Bummer about psych. I had my appt scheduled in a week but they had to cancel so I switched the order to see Dr. Baggs first. They didn't have any appointments with Dr. Z until the end of the month. I'm looking forward to meeting with Dr. Baggs to see what my goal will be. I went to the Richmond support group tonight and it was nice getting to hear from some post op people.

I was planning on going last night but couldn't find anyone to watch the kids. Dr Baggs will be happy that you went. That's one of the questions he asked. I was worried he was going to ask to lose

a large amount. Since the hubs and I have lost about 10 since our orientation he said 5 more pounds. I am 1 pound away from the goal now so I'm really anxious to get an appt with dr z.

@@Glamam me too! The process seems to be going really fast. My orientation was 10/20. Met with surgeon and am

already within 2 lbs of goal. Just called

and go my psych appointment for 11/22. I imagine if all goes well I'm looking at December/January surgery.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
