Post op diet.... wanting to pick at food

Recommended Posts

I had my sleeve surgery on June 7th.... I have been on the full liquid diet since May 29th.... smelling real food and seeing the scraps is too tempting.... does anyone else have this issue? I don't want to sabotage myself....

I said it in another thread and I will say it again here.

Listerine strips. They taste horrid and will make anything you eat taste even more horrid. They are portable and the taste lingers for at least an hour.

Your breath will be fresh and you will have plenty of time to let the head hunger pass. Keep them in your pocket.

I'll try it... thanks!

Find distractions! This soon post op you could really cause complications depending on what you ate. Head hunger is a bitch!

Maybe I'm wired up differently.....once I came home from the hospital....the absolute last thing I wanted to think about was food.

My response to food make me the morbidly obese guy that I was. It led to me having surgery for weight loss. Let me repeat that.....it led me to seek surgical undertaking in order to gain better control over weight loss.

I wanted nothing to do with food.

I was now on a new plan....and have been ever since. I eat to live. I no longer live to eat. Simple concept, but huge in scope.

For the record.......since the date of surgery the absolute only hunger I've had is "head hunger". There has been zero real hunger.

My repulsion to food leading me to this point was short lived. I realized that was not the attitude either and would eventually lead me to all or none thinking.

I have exercised my judgement during this liquids phase. I begin pureed end of this week. I have eaten mostly liquids but have had a forkful or 2 of an item like baked fish or a sweet potato chewed thoroughly of course.

I've given myself some good puréed foods that I made sure would be ready for the times I prep dinner for my family. Peaches are in season, so I peeled a half and threw it into the bullet. Yum! I also froze a few cubes of my cream of asparagus Soup. I made before hand.

Put it into my cup with a little broth n sip while I'm cooking.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
