Relationships

Recommended Posts

My surgery is set for August 24th and my on and off boyfriend is concerned that I will no longer be interested in being in a relationship. He thinks that I will get too Skinny and Not want to be with him anymore. Has anyone else had this issue?

Thanks

Blessings

Tell him that if he is this insecure already, it's better that he be off again now than waste your time trying to be on again until then. This is about your health, your confidence, and your comfort with your body- not his freaking self-esteem. If a man loves you, he supports you in your decisions to improve your health. If he cares more about your a*s than your heart (I meant that in terms of cardiac health, but lovey dovey heart context also works), either use him for his most worthwhile anatomical feature and get rid of him when he no longer fits your needs (like he is hinting he might do to you) or replace him with someone who is legitimately worth your time and say goodbye to Mr. On-again-off-again-insecure-little-boy-baby.

Do what makes YOU happy and if he doesn't like it, then too damn bad.

I didn't have this issue but from being on here a long time. This is not an uncommon concern. In fact even the other way around happens too. Where a gal is afraid her bf will no longer want her once she has lost weight if he was attracted to her when she was overweight. Frankly in any situation, if physical appearance drives someone away, then the relationship wasn't strong to begin with. However your BF's fears are normal and it's up to you reassure him that leaving him is not in your plans. You also should assess if his fears are real about you leaving or a passive aggressive way to prevent you from having surgery. Good luck to you

I think that when I first lost so much weight quickly, my husband experienced a little insecurity. I guess he thought I was maybe getting attention from men that I hadn't in the past and maybe I would want something different? After he realized that I essentially am the same person, just a healthier version of myself, things leveled out. If he's worried before you've even had the surgery, though, it would make me wonder if he's going to be supportive of you in your efforts? You definitely don't need someone sabotaging your efforts! Good luck!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
