For some reason my smell sense is probably equivalent to a dogs:/ it's making it that I can't drink anything but Water, so for 12 days that's all Iv had:/ I don't know what to do about this and it's beginning to really worry me because even walking up stairs my legs feel like Iv ran a marathon. Has anyone else had this problem?

I went through the same. My sense of smell is not as sensitive now as it was but Protein I'm still struggling with and trying to reach my recommended daily intake. I still feel muscle pain exactly like what you're feeling.

The three most important requirements after RNY gastric bypass surgery are to meet your daily Fluid, Protein and Vitamin requirements. So it looks like you get a check mark for fluids. I agree with @@beggingtobehealthy, why have you not transitioned to Protein shakes. I know some programs will vary.

My guidelines read:

Protein supplements are to begin on day five following surgery. If you are not passing gas when you leave the hospital, do not start the Protein supplement until you do. Once you are passing gas regularly, you may start the protein supplements

Protein is extremely important after surgery as its job in the body is to build, repair and maintain tissues including your body's major organs and skeletal muscles. Common symptoms of protein deficiency are poor healing, fatigue, hair loss and muscle wasting. Immediately post-op, protein promotes healing of the staple line and incisions.

You are tired because you haven't had any Protein in at least 12 days. When do you check in with your doctor and get the OK to start?

I am 15 days out, and was able to move on to pureed/soft foods at day 10. That made me much happier. I have been having Protein shakes since day two of surgery.

I'm sorry you're going through this. I hope they advance you on to protein soon!

You're feeling weak and tired because you have zero Protein in your system. If you're on the clear liquid phase you CAN get protein in with your protein shakes. Just mix it with Water.< /p>

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
