Is it possible I need another fill after just getting one?

Recommended Posts

I got my first fill about 3 weeks ago, it seems like I'm eating more than I was before I even got my fill. For the first time, I turned to "bad" foods tonite and I'm so upset with myself but I don't understand how I got a fill and now all the sudden I am starving all the time and am craving bad foods. I've been trying to do 2 Protein Shakes and one meal, but I am way too hungry still. I've even gained a few pounds

Advice?

Hi blm1* i am also going through the same thing i was banded 6 weeks ago and i have had 2 fills with a total of 4 cc in my 10 cc band i want to eat all the time. My Dr told me i was doing well i lost 13 lbs in the first 2 weeks and then nothing for this past month. my Dr told me to eat 3 meals per day 3 oz Protein and 2 tbs veg and 1 tbs of fruit. if you are still hungry have a Protein Shake. My Dr said alot of her pt,s would gain a few pounds until they get there green spot. Just keep trying to stick to the plan and try not to beat yourself up to much. Tomm is another day this for life.

@@blm1*, my advice is to call your surgeon's office, describe what's going on and finding out how conservative or aggressive they are in terms of frequency of adjustments. At least you'll be able to make an appointment.

Tthe amount of saline in a band and the band's capacity are irrelevant in and of themselves and certainly in comparison to other people's. The adjustment level is good when the band serves well. Nothing else matters. It's fine to compare numbers with other people if that's fun or interesting to you, but the comparisons indicate nothing useful.

Keep in mind that you may be at a good level for a while, but find that, for no reason, you're suddenly too tight or too loose. It can happen that the Water you swallow at the time of a fill will go down easily, but later on or the next morning you'll be too tight. If you haven't already heard, that's why bands were known as "fickle bittches." I hope there's a newer phrase for it. If so, please tell me.

Best wishes.

I just had my second fill. I hope it helps more with the hunger. I do okay in the mornings, but by late afternoon/early evening I am getting hungry. I think you just need to be patient and unfortunately work a little harder at losing weight until you reach the sweet spot where the band is working at it's best.

Best of luck!

I've had 3 fills so far and I'm not "green" yet. My doctor offered to do my next one under a fluoroscope (which means they'll fill my band to 10 cc's, have me drink barium under an x-ray, and slowly unfill the band until the barium starts flowing through and release 1/2 cc further and that should get me to green).

I may end up going that route. We'll see. I'm still losing weight but I'm definitely able to eat too much so it's slower than I'd like it to be.

Sometimes, what you are feeling is not actual hunger. Trying to learn the difference between hunger and wanting something to eat is something that many people struggle with. Try having a glass of Water, or a cup of tea. If you still feel that you need to eat something, perhaps a teaspoon of natural Peanut Butter helps, and it's good for Protein.

Finding what works for you can be frustrating but keep working it. The outcome will be worth it.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
