I am 4 days post op and I am having trouble distinguishing the "full" feeling I am expecting to get. I have not entirely tried to eat to get the full feeling but it's scares me because I do not feel any restriction when I eat. I eat about 3 teaspoons of applesauce or pudding or like 1/4 cup of Soup. It takes me a while to eat it but I never feel full. I just stop when I feel that this was enough. How much is everyone able to eat in one sitting 4 days post op? Does anyone experience rumbling and gurgling with each sip and bite?

First, you likely won't feel much restriction while you're still on liquids, as they pass through the sleeve very quickly.

Second, this soon after surgery, between swelling and a big incision down the side of your stomach, you likely won't feel much from it, unless you try eating something not on your postop list. An insulted sleeve makes itself known very quickly and vehemently.

Just keep following your postop instructions and you should be fine.

Measure your food and don't rely on feelings of fullness. You actually should not be eating to the point of feeling full from now on; you should eat until you're no longer hungry which means stopping before you feel full. But it may be months until you can figure out what hunger and fullness even feel like, which is why you should definitely not be relying on those feelings for some time! ;)

At 4 days post op I was not eating applesauce or pudding. That was the soft phase. I was basically sipping liquids all day to get them in. Though I was having Protein 3 times a day.

And yes for the stomach noises LOL

i'm also 4 days post op and i still can't determine if i'm full, maybe because i'm still on liquids but i do get that rumbling noise in my stomach after sipping, i don't know if it's because i'm sipping too fast or not.

At 11 days post op, it's easier to tell that I'm full...just felt it yesterday from a Protein smoothie that I made with frozen fruit, yogurt, Protein powder, and lite juice. I was terrified that I stretched my stomach . My stomach sounds have calmed down a lot! And I'm able to pretty much drink Water regularly without sipping. It's definitely getting easier. Almost too easy...like my sleeve is too big

I had those same feelings - you're perfectly normal.

I hope you are not doing pureed foods this early. I got a medicine cup and just sipped on it all the time. Be gentle with your new tool, let it heal. Be careful with how much you lift, that puts a great deal of pressure on your core.

I am 4 days post as well and doing all liquids. I have a hard time determining if I am full as well. I drank about 6 oz of broth in half an hour and don't feel full. Not hungry either. It's a little scary

Stomach sounds are at times painful but funny. Sounds like thunderstorms approaching. Im 8 days post...and just tried a 1/4 cottage cheese. Feels good. Feel full. Definitely nice to have something different.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
