PLASTIC SURGERY POST LGS

Recommended Posts

Hey guys! Are there any folks out there who have had plastic surgery to remove excess skin post LGS yet? I have been watching TV shows "Atlanta Plastic," " My 600lb Life" etc. I know I will need the works! Lol I am 51. Once I hit goal will need abdominoplasty, breast lift/augmentation and skin removed from arms and legs. Would like to do abdomen, breasts and arms all at once but I am not sure if surgeons will do these all at once or not. Greatly concerned about time needed to be off work. Anyone have any experience with these surgeries? If so can you tell me how much they cost and how long you were off work afterwards?

There is a whole sub-forum on BariatricPal for plastics:

http://www.bariatricpal.com/forum/393-plastic-surgery/

A lot of great info in there and most of your questions will get more of a response there. I haven't had plastics post-VSG, but I had plastics after losing 90 pounds "on my own" five years ago. I had an extended Tummy Tuck with muscle repair, breast lift with augmentation, and all over Lipo. I was originally scheduled to be off work for four weeks, but ended up taking off much longer and working half days a while after I went back, due to a complication that caused excessive soft tissue swelling in my lower back, making it painful to sit for more than a couple of hours at a time. Typically speaking, barring any complications, you should need about 4-6 weeks off work for tummy tuck or lower body lift. Much less time for breasts or arms (maybe 2 weeks). They probably won't do tummy tuck, breasts AND arms all at once. Unless you have two surgeons working on you simultaneously, since they don't want to keep you under anesthesia for too long.

I am going for a spiral thigh lift in September and I was told to take 3 weeks off of work for that. Though I think I'm going to plan on 4, because while I do have a desk job, I have to park very far away from the building where I actually work and I am concerned about the long walks to/from my car.

There is a plastics forum!

It is typical to need 4 - 6 weeks off work when you have the lower body lift like I did.

I can't tell how far you are on weight loss, but when the time is right, do several consults.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
