3 months post op - vitamins?

Recommended Posts

3 months post-op I was able to eat lean cuts of softer Protein such as fish and chicken. Trust me you will get tired of eating fish and chicken. And getting in around 96oz of Water based fluids in per day. One thing I would warn about is trying to consume raw veggies. I would wait at least 6 to 8 months. So things like salads, carrots where hard on the tummy for me and caused very uncomfortable bloating issues. I was still using Protein Shakes somewhat daily but instead of relying on them to give me basically all my protein grams per day, the shakes were giving me about a 1/3 or my daily intake goal.

You need to be taking your Vitamins. You have to take them for life, so you might as well get used to it! Are you having regular blood work done to make sure you aren't developing any deficiencies?

I am only 2 months out so no blood work yet. What are you taking?

My nutritionist has me on a bariatric Multi-Vitamin twice a day, liquid B12, a probiotic, and calcium citrate +D3. In addition to all of those, I take Vitamin C, Omega 3, extra D3, and under the advise of my doctor for carpel tunnel: coq10.< /p>

I'm struggling with taking Vitamins. They make me so nauseous and I've thrown them up several times.

What are you eating/drinking? Are you talking any Vitamins? I've really been slacking on taking them. But I've lost 25lbs since surgery, on February 11th.

Don't take your Vitamins all at once, try breaking it up thru the day, make sure you have something on your stomach. I have some chewys, .it's important you take the vitamins.. You will feel a difference!

I'll give them a try again. I take capsules and the dose is 3 capsules a day so I'll take them throughout the day. Thanks!

My NUT recommends nutraMetrix Vitamins. They are powdered and you mix them with 2 ounces of Water.

Because they are Isotonic ( like the meds that are put through IV's ) , you only have to take them once a day and the Multivitamin and Calcium can be mixed together.

My WLS surgery is not until the fall but I just ordered 90 days worth so I could get in the habit of taking them.

My NUT also warned us that Vitamin deficiencies can take years to show up.

Are you taking them with food?

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
