Drink some "smooth move" tea. 6 days is too long. You can find it at most Walmarts. It's organic and works. Make sure you steep it for 20 mins. Should work by morning. Use two bags this time. You could also try some warm prune juice. Protein Shakes can be hard on your system even though they are liquid the Protein can add to the Constipation. Push the fluids.

My surgeon sends everyone home on Colace, twice a day. Luckily, I haven't needed it, but if put in a call to your surgeon's office and see what softeners or laxatives they recommend. All that Protein and not enough liquid can really bind things up!

It took 7 days for me. Senna is natural, inexpensive, and works great. Good luck!

Glycerin suppositories are the quickest. My doctor said I should not go more than three days without. I also add Benefiber to at least one shake each day.

I had to take dulcolax tablets to finally have my first bm after surgery. For me it had been 7 days. I was taking the Miralax that was recommended from my doctors office, drank apple & prune juice that was recommended by nurse ( sugar in juice made me sick) and I was really kinda freaked out about it all. Since that first bm, everything is moving fine on its own. Pain meds can slow things down too.. Keeping hydrated will help but sometimes you have to take laxitives to get things going.

Me too! After 6 days I was uncomfortable so took the suppositories. What a relief afterwards, I'm now also taking a stool softener and done my 2nd BM in 10 days.

Add coconut oil to a hot drink!! If you can handle a couple tablespoons it does the job! I had to drink it for about 6 months!!

The typical route for moving along a BM post-op goes in succession if each one fails to help:

LOTS of Water --> prune juice --> stool softener --> laxative

Your surgeon likely has a specific instructions for how he prefers to handle post-op issues. Definitely refer to that. Also, remember that you have barely eating, and none of it solid, so it is common to have very little to no waste.

I was sleeved on April 13, 2016. I'm about 4-5 days out. I also have not had a BM but my doc told me it could take around 7-10 days. She gave me a prescription for stool softener. I really haven't eaten much at all since my surgery. No solids what so ever. Just a few sips of Protein shakes and carnation instant Breakfast. Also some Water and Decaf tea. Drinking is still painful. I had a hernia repair also during my sleeve surgery, so I'm guessing that's why . I still have tons of air through out my body which is giving upper back and shoulder pain

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
