Restriction loss after 2 fills

Recommended Posts

Banded 1/21/16 and have had 2 fills (3cc and 2cc). Last one was under fluroscope and was the max I could take; 3 ccs caused a blockage and Water wouldn't go down.

After about a week, I feel like there is zero restriction. I can tell the band is there if I eat too fast, but never get that full feeling and am hungry at night after dinner.

Anyone have similar experiences? Doc says it gets better by the 3rd fill but wondering what everyone else's experience is. How many fills till you hit that green zone and feel the constant restriction and full feeling?

It took me 3 good fills, but it also depends upon how much you get per fill.

And keep in mind people react differently.

My first fill was 4cc's, and did absolutely nothing. As a matter of fact, after that first fill I began to gain all the weight back from the pre and post op diet regime.

2nd fill was 2cc's...no green zone yet, but my weight did level out...no gain, not much loss.

3rd fill was 1cc...put me over the top...though perhaps I was over filled but my Dr. asked that I stick it out, which I did.

Things did improve, along with some behaviour changes on my part.

That was over 5 years ago. Never had a fill since, and have been in the Green Zone ever since....it all became very easy after that (providing I changed my eating habits to work with the band) ....absolutely heaven!

I don't even think about it all that much anymore.

Could not be more pleased with the overall outcome and my new life.

Im not sure if you are male or female.

But if you are female..... i noticed that if i get a fill around the time i am ovulating or on my period i would lose restriction quickly.... if thats the case with you... get a fill during the times that you are not

Male

Hmm i guess that doesn't apply....

Are you inflamed or gassy? Cause if you have a fill during those times.. you will feel restriction then once the inflammation settles you lose it

Neither. I am losing fast so the overall plan is working, just wondering about other's experiences. When you started getting fills did you have to adjust and if so, how often until the green zone?

I did adjustments when i felt i neeeded them.

I listened to my body and paid attention to how much I was eating.

I was in the green zone probably after my 2nd fill.. around 6 months passed (i lost most of my weight during that time) then suddenly it felt like i could eat much more.

So after that i would get filled .. realise it was too tight and have to get unfilled...never got back to the green zone.

My advice is listen to your body... dont have your band too tight as this will contribute to complications down the road.

I believe i was successful mainly because i was using the band as a tool.. so even if i was hungry i tried to make good choices.

I hope that helps. How are you feeling now?

Ive had a band since 2009 and you never really stop feeling hungry.

Its just that ur new stomach is small so it feels full. But the hunger is created by hormones in the lining of your stomach and theyre still there and active all the time unlike with sleeve or bypass.

I lijed the vand at first but am having a revision to bypass next week because i cant stand the hunger feeling any more.

Gosh everyone is soo different. I never feel hungry. The reason I eat is head hunger, or I need to for my body. It has always been like that for me once I hit green zone. Just take note of how your body is reacting to your eating. Take everything slowly. Even the fills. Sometimes .1 ml can be enough. Good luck. Be patient. It can work.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
