Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I257 using the BariatricPal App

I have a 6 month supervised "dieting" period. I am almost done with month 1 lol. So I'm about 5 months out. And boy is it creeping I'm eager. But can't rush time.

According to my insurance I'll have no dieting period but my first appointment with my surgeon is April 8th. It feels like is so long away!

Yeah me neither. The hard part for me it going to be just figuring out what to tell people. I don't want to tell them I am having surgery, cause is none of their business, but when the ask me how I'm losing weight I need to have an answer ready.

Oh yeah and I am in college.

The only person that knows about my upcoming surgery is my husband. My plan for when a family member or acquaintance asks me about the weight loss is as follows: I have been blessed and that I am on a high protein/ low fat diet. I feel that is the truth without actually divulging my WLS.

Oh yeah and I am in college.

Just tell them you made a lifestyle change: eating healthy and exercise. All of this will be true- you're only omitting the part about surgery. I'm 26 and just got a RNY nearly 4 weeks ago. Best decision I've ever made. When I was 23, my neurologist team didn't agree that I needed WLS- so My weight kept spiraling out of control.. I have Pseudtumor Cerebri, Papilledema, & Hashimoto's, and I got pregnant back-to-back 3 times because thyroid medication aids fertility I was forced to get lumbar punctures and blood Patches every other Friday for 2 years! until I switched neurologists, they read my entire medical history, and actually listened to the torture I've endured over the course of my young twenties. I was so excited when my new neuro signed off on the surgery, I ran around work telling EVERYBODY. I'm an open book, though, so I didn't care what anyone thought... I was finally getting relief from the headaches and the pain from the spinal taps, and then the pain after the spinal tap from a low pressure headache.. The blood transfusions.. Everything. So do as you wish.. But if you wish to not speak on the surgery, like I said above- just tell them it was from a lifestyle change. Really, even after the surgery, it's the change in your eating habits and exercise that is going to make you lose weight, anyway. Best of luck to you!

I'm 27 and have my consult with the surgeon on 5/26. In my opinion the younger the better. I wanted to have kids by 30 so now I have to wait until after. I know several people who did it at 18 and 19 and there journeys were remarkable. The younger ones seem to not have issues and bounce back well. I'm hoping to be scheduled in June so I can have disability in July. Keep me updated.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
