In need of a buddy sleeve date Feb 26!

I am scheduled to have surgery on Feb 26th. If you are having surgery around that date or have already had your procedure I would love to have a buddy to talk to about our experiences. I am currently doing my pre-op diet. Right now I am 218 5'4 and I am hoping to loose another 5-10 pounds before my procedure. I would love to get some advice on the liquid diet after the procedure and what protein drinks are good. I hope someone reaches out..starting to get nervous.. But oh so excited at the same time!! Don't be nervous. I was too but it all comes together when it is time. I had my procedure last Aug. 30, I am 6 mos. out. I would enjoy talking or answering any questions you may have. Let me know. You're already doing it.!!!

Hi there! I am scheduled for surgery on March 7 and start my pre op diet on Monday. Scared to death but excited. How are things going for you?

How was the pain? That's my biggest fear!

When I first woke up I had a lot of gas pain and nausea. They gave me medicine until I was more comfortable. Yesterday just was not a great day. Today I am 100 percent better. I got a heating pad for the gas pain that seems to be worse in my shoulders and it helps more than anything else to control the pain. I can tolerate water and broth now without nausea. So it starts off rough but quickly you will feel better. I would still say the pain was worth it!

Well it sounds like you are on the upside! That's great news! I am 53 years old and that's another thing that worries me but my BMI is below 40 so the doc says I am not a high risk. I am anxious to start this journey! Hope you continue to feel better every day!

I am 40 and my BMI is 32. You will do great. I have many friends who have done it and all say that it's worth it. We just gotta get past the first few weeks. Which I think are going to be the toughest.

Look for premier Protein at Sams or Walmart. They are good and have 30g of protein per serving.

Thank you so much for writing!! Mom2hounds is there a protein drink that you like? I saw that the Isopure has 40 grams of protein and I bought a few to try after my procedure. I hear that your taste can change did you experience this?

Congratulations bbclbc!! That is wonderful and I am glad your doing better. I can hardly take the wait anymore. I started this process in Oct and now it seems like now that I'm down to a week to wait I am going nuts.

Yay April your the day before me!! Are you on your pre-op diet? How it's it going? I will have to try the Premier Protein again. I tried it before and It didn't agree with me.

I am 61 yrs. old and had my surgery Aug 30th. I'm 6 mos. out. I was nervous also, almost to tears but yet so excited. They prepped me for surgery and off I went. Woke up, no pain at all, dues to meds, no nausea and luckily no gas pain. I actually felt pretty good and I had a higher BMI than anyone has mentioned. I had to lose 100 lbs. before they would operate. I loved my Doctor and he made it so easy, oh there were bad days, hungry all day but when I did pre op shakes I had no trouble. Premier Protein got me through, also, my iced tea decaf. I was very fortunate I never had pain. Got home and worried about the sipping also, but my husband got me into the habit which they started at the hospital and it was ok. You sound ready to me and are just having normal feelings I had before I went in. You are already doing it. Be proud of yourself.
