Jeanette1246 - it gets better. Trust me. Right now you are swollen, etc. and even a little sip of Water could hurt. Just try to sip sip sip and get your fluids in. You do not want to get dehydrated. I was not able to make my Water and Protein goals for the first few weeks but I did try. Every day it gets easier.

There is no need to be embarrassed by having surgery to lose weight. NONE AT ALL. You did something positive for yourself so you can lose weight, be more active, and be there for your family. I know you said they didn't ask questions, but did you volunteer any info to them? Did you ask them to come to an appointment? Could it be your husband doesn't want to feel like he's intruding?

You've got three little boys that I am sure you are busting your butt to take care of. Remember, you can't be there for them if you aren't taking care of yourself. Sometimes you need to ASK for help.

Just my .02

It does get better food/water/protein wise! It really really really REALLY does. I've lost over 100lbs and I feel awesome. Right after the surgery I was readmitted with terrible dry heaves and nausea for an additional 3 nights...it wasn't fun....but I got through it and I don't regret a thing!

All good comments above!

Also, your throat is still raw / sore / swollen from the tube they stuck down your throat during surgery.

That will ease up completely in a few more weeks.

:)

P.S. I'm seeing a therapist (started several months pre-op -- I'm nearly 18 months post-op now). I can't overstate how helpful he has been thus far on this WLS trip. Please consider finding a therapist who has had success working with bariatric patients. :)

@@Jeanette1246, I can't add any more to what they all have said (great advice) but just wanted to let you know that there are a lot of us on the site who are supportive (as you can see from the responses) .

Please hang in there, you are not alone & I agree...it does get easier.

Thank you! I have taken a little time to just breathe today. I focused on my Water and my premier Protein drinks. I got 44oz. of Water down and two 12oz. Premier drinks down. I think I just needed a mini melt down to refocus on why I started this. I am great full for the kind comments and generous outpouring of support from all of you. Each day will be a better day and a stronger me! Thank you all!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

@@Jeanette1246 ... there you go! That's how this works ... one day at a time, doing what you're supposed to do today. Over and over.

That's literally all you have to do to reach your goals.

:)

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
