You are only 3 days out. I was in a lot of pain for the first week after my conversion and still had pain my second and third week although it diminished as time went by. Hang in there. It is worth it.

I got the lap band in 2008, my stomach prolapsed above the band, I don't know at what point. But I remember having it put in, was far less painful than having it removed in 2011.

I thought having it removed would be a breeze. NOPE. And I had it removed a few weeks before my wedding. I had to wear this huge band around my abdomen under my wedding dress. I swear to God having the lap band removed felt like that man just ripped it out with his bare hands!

On the ride home, every bump in the road made me scream, even on pain meds. yeah.

fast forward to now, I'm almost home 24 hours from having VSG and this is NOTHING like the pain of having a lap band removed.

So baby , I FEEL FOR YOU!

If I were your Dr. I'd put you on strong pain meds for weeks! Just as long as you don't get too comfy and do too much to hurt yourself. But I do know how you feel, and my heart goes out to you!!

I just had my surgery on the 1st of February myself---I am still in pain but haven't been taking the oxycodone I was prescribed. I totally understand how you're feeling and I feel useless and low energy. Don't know how much longer I can be out of commission.

I did hear that with the sleeve the recovery time is a bit longer than the band. With the band I recovered in two days without a problem. I think if we give it a week it will be so much better. Hang in there!

Now I'm afraid I am having the lap band conversion to sleeve surgery. Not crazy about pain. I'm also 66...afraid I won't spring back so easily. Anymore help on handling the post op pain is appreciated.

I had sleeve surgery on 2/1 and am in a lot of pain still. Afraid I will run out of pain medicine. It hurt much more than I expected. I feel like I am getting a little better each day but it is slow!

Oh Mimi. You will be happier in the end because, really as you can see, the lap band is a different ballgame altogether. Well, as much as we can know so far, right?

See if they will give you a tight wrap for your torso if it's allowed. That is what I used. It helped to stop my belly area from jostling around so much. Really. It's like an Ace Bandage for your entire torso/abdominal area. It is large, white, stretchy and attaches with Velcro on the sides. It was very helpful.

I'm all about opiods, there is a difference between "patients" and "addicts". So, they helped get me through this as well as the tight wrap I wore all the time. I wore it for weeks. Washed it, of course. =)

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
